Hello there this is kelmel-12132. Welcome to my oneshot I hope you enjoy. Cover art and characters are not mine. Basically I own nothing but the story idea anyways enjoy!

Rain poured down in the small country town as a scrawny red haired teenager stumbled into an alley. Blood dripped from his mouth and he wiped it away with his sleeve. Foot steps could be heard along with yelling from down the street. "Shit" mumbled the teen. He backed further down the alley in hopes of avoiding the source of all the noise. It was no used. "Found ya". A hand wrapped around his neck and the teenager found himself staring into the brown-almost black-eyes of The Chief as he was lifted off the ground and slammed against the hard bricks of the building. "Now Tod" drawled the silver-haired attacker. "What did I tell ya about hangin' 'round my brother". Tod clawed at the hands around his neck. "Cuz I'm pretty sure last time we had one of our 'chats' I explicitly told ya to STAY AWAY!". "I-i'm s-so-rry" Tod stuttered. The Chief narrowed his eyes. "Sorry won't cut it this time." He pulled out a switchblade and lightly ran it over Tod's cheek. "Maybe I should just kill ya, no one would miss ya. Yer a freakish little orphan who can't find a home. Yer a fox, and in this town we kill foxes.". A shadow fell across the two of them. "Leave him alone Chief" The Chief turned and dropped Tod unceremoniously onto the ground where he sat there gasping for oxygen. "Copper! What're ya doin' here?" Copper stepped further into the alley, his chocolate brown eyes full of rage and completely soaked. "I came to find my friend Chief. Now leave before I call for the police." The taller man pocketed his switchblade and sent one last glare to Tod before stomping past Copper and down the street. Copper watched him go before being torn out of his thoughts by Tod's quiet coughing. "Oh God. What did he do to you?" Copper was at his friend's side in an instant, gently holding him close to his body as Tod began to cry into his shoulder. Tod nuzzled his head into Copper's neck, sobbing uncontrollably. After a few minutes Tod's sobs quelled and Copper lifted him up, placing an arm under his legs and another on his back. Tod held onto him like a life line as his arms found their way around his neck. "C'mon Tod, let's get you home". Widow Tweed was quite surprised when there was a knock on the door of her home. She gently opened the door and gasped. Tod had let go of Copper's neck and was seated in one of the widow's chairs but he held a firm grip on Copper's arm. The chair had been so big and Tod was so skinny that the two of them were huddled together, wrapped in a blanket. "Why that family of yours has been after Tod for what seems like forever. Your mother was just like you, but now... you're the only good person in that family." As the widow left the room to brew some tea, Tod glanced up at Copper shyly. "T-thank you Copper" Copper looked into Tod's blue orbs and Tod stared into his brown ones. "That's what friends are for. 'Sides I could never leave you." Tod placed his head against Copper's shoulder, giving a contented sigh. "I-I know you won't break that p-promise. But can we shake on it?" Copper nodded his head. And grasped Tod's outstretched hand, giving it a shake. Tod nuzzled closer to Copper's coat, taking a deep breath of the woodsy scent that clung to it while Copper slowly carded his free hand through Tod's hair as they drifted off. That was how Widow Tweed found them. And that was how they stayed. Together.

Hi author again, so important question if you're reading this. Does Tod/Copper have a ship name and if not I was thinking Topper or like ForeverShipping. 'Cuz they said that they'd be friends forever. Also this cover is only being used until I get real cover art that was purposefully sent to me so feel free to send some.
