Hello! This is my first drabble, so if you want to correct something then please do! Here I'm going to upload a series of Zuko centric drabbles. From his relationship with his uncle, to some canon and AU ships.
Disclaimer: If I own ATLA, you would see everything I write here in the TV show.
Characters: Zuko/Lu Ten.
Warning: Character death.
A true Prince never cries. That's what his father always said, an heir to the throne should not be weak, should he? However, sometimes it was hard not to and little Zuko knew it well. Even if he could stand being injured, the fear he felt of his grandfather, having a cold father... No, he could live with that. Injuries, fear and dissapointment. However, there were things he just couldn't stand.
It seemed like another ordinary day for him; arguing with his sister, training, spending time with his mother (even if his Lord father didn't approve of him spending that much time with her). Except that when he went to talk to his Lady mother, she was crying. Suddenly, his heart started beating fast as he knew something was very wrong. Then she said it... Yet it made no sense. His cousin was a warrior, the best one! Lu ten was invencible, no one could defeat him. No one! Then why did she say that? Why did she say that his beloved cousin had reunited with Agni? It couldn't be. Zuko wanted to tell her that she was wrong, there had to be a mistake, hadn't it? But he didn't. All he did was to stand there, completely in shock. No, he did not cry. Simply stood there, without saying anything as his mother cried.
He did not cry. A Prince never cries.
Even if it felt like a dagger in his heart, knowing that his cousin, whom he loved as a brother would never return. Even if he refused to eat that day, hi stomach aching almost like his heart, he did not cry. Even if he watched his cousin's body turning into ashes right before his eyes, he just stood there respectfully as any prince did in a funeral. But he never cried, he couldn't, he shouldn't.
One.
Two.
Three days passed.
The sky was furious, roaring in its own darkness. The Prince hated rain, yet he was grateful this time. Because under the rain, no one could tell if what was running through his face were the cold drops or tears. No one could tell that he was screaming, as the thunders' sounds were greater.
"You promised..." He whispered with a sore throat. "You were going to teach me how to be better... You promised me, cousin."
No, a Prince didn't cry. Or did they? Zuko didn't care anymore, all he knew was that he felt relieved. Even if that wouldn't return Lu Ten.
