Purple Trailer

Halay was feeling anxious. The rich blonde girl was so excited that she gotten up super early just to put on he battle clothes. It was a simple looking outfit. Mostly dark purple with one shoulder pad on the right and bracers around her forearms, leathery battle skirt, and combat boots.

Soon she would be out of her house, out of her family, out of her… everything. Tonight she was leaving for Beacon Academy, a new school in a new country. Somewhere her parents could not judge her and she would be free from family obligations. In fact, the excitement was almost enough to make her dance (as long as no one was watching).

'knock knock'

"Mrs. Maltese," the maid called, "Gray would like to speak with you before your departure."

"Tell him I'll see him when I'm not busy. So... tomorrow." Halay responded shoving another outfit into her suitcase.

Halay and Gray had been friends since a ball her parents had thrown when they were little. With her father being part of the Mistral commerce Halay's parents sheltered her from other children. but because Gray's father was the head of security, they had been able to grow up next to each other and even become friends.

Gray had been completely against her leaving for Beacon though. In the preceding months he had been trying to talk her into going to Haven instead. It was closer to home and he or her parents could show up if she needed them to. But that was one her biggest reasons for not going there.

Halay knew that if she saw Gray tonight it would end up just being one more argument between them. She just was not in the mood for that. So sad as it may be, she decided that the two of them would not be saying their goodbyes.

Halay stopped her packing and turned to face the maid. "Where is he waiting exactly?"

"He is in dining hall with your lunch ma'am."

"Good keep him there and don't let him leave. I'll eat later on the ship."

"Very well ma'am."

As soon as the maid left Halay slammed her last suitcase close and quickly made her way towards her family's airship.

'Alright, a get away!' Halay thought to herself as she ran down the stairs. 'Now if the servants can distract Gray just long enough for my parents to get to come out, I can be home free. ...So to speak.'

Halay's mind raced as she began running through a mental checklist of things, making sure she didn't forget anything, and messaged her parents that she wanted to leave ASAP.

She was just about to leave her room when she realized that Melody and Harmony, her twin saber pistols, were still in the training hall from last night.

She cursed at herself in frustration. This would mean sneaking around the dinning hall and carefully avoiding Gray. But that was nothing her semblance couldn't handle.

The doors opened slightly as Halay sneaked into her family's training hall. She made her way across the room to where the sabers were held and grasped the first blade watching it fade from view with her semblance. Cloaking was always a nifty little trick. Constantly getting her and her Gray both in and out of trouble.

Suddenly a loud step, a quick slash, and Halay's invisible blades were forced to block a most frustrated slash from a long gray sword.

"You really thought you could sneak away from me?" Gray asked, "After all the time we've known each other?"

"Would you blame a girl for trying?"

"Indeed I do." Gray said smiling as he backed away letting both his sword and gun/shield hang loosely in his arms. Letting her know he wasn't here for a fight.

"Look, I do not think there is anything more for us to talk about. I am leaving and that is that."

"I disagree. I'm still confused as to why you even think this is a good idea."

Halay looked away from him. "It is... just something I need to do." She never could get across how she felt like a prisoner in her own home.

Gray saw her averted eyes and sighed at them. "You can't just leave without telling me what's going on. I'm your best friend, shouldn't you trust me?"

In her head she knew he was right. But she just couldn't get her mouth to open. So instead she kept looking at the window to avoid Gray's gaze.

"Alright if you can't speak with your mouth how about with your blades?" That caught her attention. "If I win you forget going to Beacon and we do something else, but if you win you can go to Beacon and I'll never bother you about it again."

Halay smiled at Gray's proposal. She smiled because this was going to be all too easy.

Unlike the last attack Halay was ready this time as Gray charged at her shield first. A simple sidestep to the left and his back would be fully exposed ready for her blade.

This plan however was foiled when Gray used his shield blast to knock himself backwards before she could even get around him.

"No no, you're not getting me that easily," Gray said with a smirk. "Not until you can convince me that you are strong enough to be a huntress."

"Stronger than you," she said despite having never won a single match against him. But then again she didn't have to win she just needed to get past him. Of course he knew this too. That was the vexing part, for every step she took towards the door, Gray was there blocking her. At this rate it would be just a war of attrition and Gray would most definitely win.

However, Halay had remembered from many previous battles that a shield could only block so much at a time. Using this she shot simultaneously at Gray's feet and head causing him to duck his entire body behind the shield just what she was hoping for. Halay charged forward and went to run past Gray while he was blinded by the gun/shield.

Hearing her steps though, Gray slashed right and fired left to create an attacking wall. But much to his surprise Halay had taken the high road and somersaulted over him. He turned to chase her but was stopped by hail of bullets as Halay fired backwards while running.

"Later Gray I promise to write!" she said laughing her way out of sight.

"HALAY! Get back here!"

"What? I cant hear you over the falling chandelier!" she yelled still firing rapidly.

"The falling wha- Oof!"

Halay ran into the hanger gasping for breath. "Halay what took you so long we were getting worried?" her mother asked.

"Sorry *huff* *huff* Gray was having problems saying goodbye." at this point Halay was so tired from the running she was ready to collapse.

"I see," said her father, "I hope you left on good terms. After all he's just worried about you getting into trouble without being there to help you."

Halay glared. "Yeah, well. He should worry a little less. Can we go now?" She knew Gray was just trying to be a good friend but she needed to go to Beacon to figure out herself.

"Now are you sure got everything honey?" Mrs. Maltese asked her daughter.

"Mom I'm fine, I need to get going now." Halay was just a few steps away from the ship but felt like she had been trying to walk away from her parents for hours. "Look a photographer!"

As both Mr. and Mrs. Maltese turn swiftly looking for a picture opportunity Halay went disappeared into the crowd.

'Well it's not like I haven't said goodbye fifteen times already,' she thought to herself. She turned back to wave one last time and *bang* felt like she had run into a brick wall. Looking up Halay quickly realized this wall was actually a six foot man with a large scar on his mouth. However this man seemed to be way more scarred of her than she was of him.

"Watch where you're going!" Halay yelled at him. The man did not say anything. Just sort of shuttered back and kept out of her way.
