The night that Lily and James Potter were killed and Harry was orphaned was the same night that I was let's say "born". I won't bore you with every detail but I will tell you all about it. That night when Snape came to see my mother fallen was the night I gained a new family. He was among some of the few that knew that my mother was pregnant. He knew he would have to help out her born child Harry but he also knew that he had to help me.
Once Dumbledore arrived to get Harry, Snape begged him to save me. He thought he owed it to Lily. Wizard's have a very old spell that not many know of. So once Hagrid got Harry, Dumbledore performed the spell to get me in fetus form from my mother before I too died. Now it wasn't a secret that there was a second Potter child because I was the taken to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. It hit the Daily Prophet and was the second biggest article next to Harry surviving. I was only a fetus of 5 months. So I was sent to a special ward where I continued to grow.
No one believed that I was real, I mean no one have ever heard of the spell. It has been long forgotten. I mean have you heard of the spell vivat infans. I didn't think so. So I spent my life being raised away from the world. Oh and to answer your questions yes I have a scar. It's half a heart and is right below my right ear. That is what's left behind when vivat infans is used on you. That was one of the few facts that the press knew after they researched vivat infans. I was "born" February 25th 1982, but no one believed that fact. So I was raised in secrecy by Snape but you know the funny part is he didn't let me around magic. I just lived in a secret area of Hogwarts where the only magic he let me near was potions.
But in a rush after 11 years of life I still got my Hogwarts letter in 1993. Snape being Snape got everything for me except my robes and wand. He let me go out to London with him to get those and that's when my story truly began. Diagon Alley was spectacular everything just seemed so alive. From the owlery shop to the broom shop. By time we reached Madame Malkin's Robes Snape was tired of me.
'Hello dear just give me one second and i'll be right with you' Madame Malkin said once I walked in.
'Thank you' Snape spoke before I could 'Haley go stand on that stool and I'm gonna be back soon once I'm done getting some items needed for potions,'
'Okay.' I nodded in understanding and went over to stand on the stool.
'Hello' said a voice.
I look over to see a face smiling up at me.
'Hello' I say shyly to the girl standing next to me.
She hand dark brown wavy hair that goes just past her shoulders, sandy brown skin. Her eyes were a deep brown that were sending a warm and welcoming gaze to my eyes. She had black kinda rectangular glasses.
'My name is Jimenez, Gilma Jimenez' She said happily 'I'm here to get fitted for my Hogwarts school robes.'
'Same' I said not knowing she seen my scar, or the importance of said scar.
'What's your name?' Gilma asked a hint a wonder in her voice.
'Alrighty then off you go.' Madam Malkin said to Gilma.
'Well goodbye for now I guess' Gilma said as she left the store with her parents.
'Let's get started with you now shall we?' Malkin said as she slipped a robe over my head.
As Snape and I walked into Ollivanders wands a whiff of dust crept to my nose.
'Aw so it's true the rumors?'asked a man I can only assume is Ollivander himself.
'Pardon?' I asked confused.
'Nothing flower, Mr. Ollivander shall we get on with the wand?' Snape said with a bit of a snarl.
'Of course. If that's what pleases you Severus.' Ollivander said.
I had gone through 6 dozen wands and broken many lamps. I sent a chair out of a window and zapped Snape before I found my wand. The second it touched my fingers a glow brighter than the sun shone and a gust as cheery as a spring day blew.
'Laurel wood with a Unicorn hair core 10 ¾" and Surprisingly Swishy flexibility, there you are child' He boxed my wand and bagged it carefully handing it back to me. Snape paid and we went out into the street and with a "pop" we were in back in Hogsmeade.
'Hey Sev' I asked Snape as we walked back to Hogwarts.
'Yes flower?'
'How come Mr. Ollivander asked if the rumors were true? What rumors?'
'Haley..' Snape began as we walked to the hidden tower that was my home
'When you were a baby…' He told me the story
'So that's how I got the scar then?'
'Yes that's how you got the scar.'
We reached my door and I couldn't help but feel a surge of anger rush through me.
'YOU'VE HID MY PAST FROM ME AND KEPT MAGIC FROM?! I KNEW IT EXISTED BUT YOU'VE NEVER LET ME NEAR IT! I HAVE A BROTHER THAT'S GONE HERE FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN TOLD ME ABOUT HIM?!' I couldn't help it tears started to fill my eyes, 'I thought you cared about me as your own Sev.' I quickly rushed into my room and to my bed after I slammed my door and just cried all night into my pillow.
I didn't talk to Snape until he told me where to join the other first years. I waited outside the Great Hall with the other first years trying not to draw attention to who I was. Before I knew it I was being pushed into the Great Hall by the group of my peers.
'Welcome first years. Welcome' said Dumbledore one of the few who actually knew about me.
Professor Mcgonagall started to call off names but I didn't really pay attention everything still seemed a blur until I heard a familiar name.
'Gilma Jimenez!' Mcgonagall shouted
Gilma slowly walked forward and sat on the stool not a minute after she sat down did the hat shout,
'Ravenclaw!'
There was a loud applause from the table as she strode over to sit with her new house. A few more names were called until.
'Haley Potter!'
The hall grew silent as soon as my name left her lips. I slowly and unsteadily walked forward to sit on the stool all eyes piercing into me like knives, the hat sat down on my head and I knew that I wasn't smart enough for Ravenclaw, nice enough for Hufflepuff, proud enough for Slytherin, or Brave enough for Gryffindor. I was gonna be the first ever person in the history of Hogwarts without a house.
'Gryffindor!' shouted the hat after taking a lifetime to place me.
Shocked I got up and rushed over to my new house whilst I tried not to lose my hearing from the loud applause. People greeted me but I wasn't really into it. All of a sudden I heard,
'Let the feast begin!'
Food filled the plates all around me but I was still questioning the sorting hat's decision to place me in Gryffindor to really care about eating.
'You know the food isn't just there for show you are allowed to eat it.' said a boy with messy brown hair and eyes the same as mine as he slid in next to me. Along with a girl with bushy brown hair and a boy with red hair and a freckled face.
'I guess i'm just not that hungry.' I said not caring to hear someone else say "You really do exist"
'I'm Harry' I looked at him at this 'Harry Potter'
'What?' I said all sorts of emotions running through my mind.
'Sorry I don't mean to scare you I just thought that you would like to meet your brother before people tried to tell you anything untrue.'
'No it's just…' I couldn't find the words to explain, I didn't know how to say what I felt.
So I did the only thing I could think to do I rushed forward and hugged him. It wasn't as much as a thought to hug him but more of an instinct. At first he was shocked and his arms stayed open but he slowly hugged me back. I breathed in the scent of my brother, not wanting to forget it.
'Thank you.' I said to him shocking myself more than anyone else.
'For what?'
'Just. Thank you.'
I woke up the next morning and tried to remember that I was no longer staying in my hidden tower now I am in the Gryffindor tower sharing my room with my fellow housemates.
'Good morning.' said a girl with short dark brown hair and a kind smile.
'Good morning' I yawned.
'I'm, Izzy Trembly'
'Hullo Izzy, I'm…'
'Haley Potter' she finished 'don't worry I just want to be your mate and by you I mean you and not your fame.'
'Well Izzy I guess since we are best mates now we'd better head off to breakfast together as well.' I say will I pull my school robes over my head onto my body.
'I guess we should.'
'What class do you have first?' Izzy asked in between bites of biscuits and gravy.
'Oh um Year 3 Potions with the Slytherins.' I look at Izzy 'Snape raised me and he kept me away from all magic except for potions so I managed to test out of years 1 and 2 of potions.'
'Oh. Yeah me too.'
'Hello Haley' Harry said as he sat next to me and his friends as I now know them Ron and Hermione sat right across from us.
'Mornin Harry, Ron, Hermione' I say to them through a mouthful of cream of wheat. 'This is Izzy.' I say gesturing over to Izzy.
'Hi.' Izzy replies before diving back into her breakfast not wanting to start a conversation.
'So Haley what's your first class?' Hermione asked.
'Year 3 Potions with the Slytherins.'
'What?' Harry, Hermione, and Ron all ask shocked.
'I was raised by Snape and he taught me a lot about potions and how to brew them the ingredients and so forth. So I tested out of years 1 and 2 of potions.'
'Bloody Hell. You were raised by Snape?' Ron asked a little horrified.
'Hey babe.' before I was able to answer I was cut of by a blond haired boy with stormy grey/blue eyes.
'Hey Dray,' Harry gave this "Dray" man a quick peck on the lips, 'Draco this is my sister Haley, Haley this is my boyfriend Draco'
'Hello nice to meet you Draco.' I say holding out my hand for him to shake.
'You see,' Draco says to Harry as he shakes my hand, 'I don't have to get Haley to shake my hand after waiting 1 and half years.'
'Oh shove off Malfoy' Harry replies annoyed.
'So Haley, Sev has told me that you will be joining our potions class, but last time I checked you told him no special treatment.' Draco said to me smirking.
Before I could answer Ron cut in,
'Wait, you two already know each other?'
'Yes, Snape is Draco's Godfather, he is one of the few that actually knew me since I was a baby.'
'Hold on you knew about her and didn't tell me?' Harry says getting up ready to leave.
'Hey we were "enemies" for 1 and a half years and I don't know about you but starting out a relationship by saying "Oh I know your sister that nobody believes exist" isn't a good way to start out a relationship' Draco said pulling Harry back down.
'And he actually never told me about you Harry so it wasn't anything against you really,' I say trying to help Draco, 'Plus you don't have to put up with the awkward part where your sister and boyfriend get to know each other. You just have to put up with getting to know your sister.'
'We should head to potions.' Harry says getting up grabbing a hold of Draco's hand and walking out of the great hall.
'Come on Izzy.' I say as I follow Harry and Draco with Ron and Hermione.
'Coming.' she calls after me.
'Now I suggest you all began brewing the Confusing Concoction' Snape snarled and taped the black board with his wand where the directions appeared.
Ingredients
water (500mL)
jobberknoll feathers (2 barbs)
leeches (juiced; 1-2)
Instructions
Bring water to a boil
Separate the barbs from the shafts of 2 jobberknoll feathers
Place barbs in boiling water and stir 12 times clockwise and 7 times counter-clockwise
Boil for 30 minutes
Add leech juice by squeezing one leech into the cauldron and stir in an unpredictable fashion
Keep stirring until potion should thickens (within 5 minutes)
If potion does not thicken after 10 minutes of stirring, add another leech and continue to stir unpredictably until thickened
If potion has still not thickened after an additional 10 minutes, start another brew
I began getting to work on my potion not looking up. On my 7th stir counterclockwise I heard a small explosion next to me and couldn't help but look up. Next to me sat a fellow Gryffindor with short sandy brown hair and sky blue eyes.
'Mr. Finnigan I do hope you are not trying to blow up my classroom again.' Snape snarled at him
That's when I noticed that he had ash marks all over his face and eyebrows gone.
'Professor…' he started but I cut him off.
'It's not fair of you to point out his mistakes just a few minutes ago I watched a Slytherin blow up his potion and yet you did not even care to point it out to the entire class.' I say not caring that the whole class grew silent and was watching the entire interaction. Izzy pulled at my sleeve for me to sit down. 'You cannot discriminate people because of house or if you like them because that would make you an awful professor then. Instead when a student makes a mistake rather than humiliate them you should politely point out the mistake and show them how to fix it. And if you were a decent human being then maybe you could offer to tutor them or to get them a tutor.'
At this point the class was either terrified for my life or terrified of me for talking to Snape like that.
'I do not think it is your position to judge my teaching skills.' Snape snapped back.
'And I don't think that it is in your position to take down students self estimate because you feel like it.'
'Well if you feel so strongly about helping out your fellow classmates then have fun being their tutor,' I couldn't snap back from the shock at what I just heard so satisfied Snape continued, 'Haley Potter meet your new student Seamus Finnigan, Seamus Finnigan meet your new tutor Haley Potter.' and with that Snape strode away behind his desk.
'Thank you.' I heard a voice whisper next to me.
'For what?' I say turning to Seamus.
'For sticking up for me.'
'Well you can't just let him push you around like that it's not fair.' I say turning back to my potion and adding in the leech juice.
'But no one stands up to Snape'
'Well I guess I just don't like seeing people being pushed around'
'Well thanks again'
'No problem,' as I finish my potion I look I look up from my cauldron and say, 'I can meet you back here after dinner, feel free to bring any other friends who may need help.'
'Okay.'
I take a sample of my potion and go drop it off at Snape's desk. Eyes following me, I assume because I was the first to finish the potion.
'That was bloody brilliant' Ron says to me as we walk out of the dungeons and into the courtyard.
'Remind me again why we are heading to this "quidditch pitch" during our free hour?'
'Someone has to show you the thrill of playing quidditch.'
'If you say so.' I say as we enter the huge stadium.
