When Hisana met Byakuya she was certain of her fate, to live miserably and die alone. It was her own fault, she knew that. Hell, she had abandoned her own sister and not for some noble cause, no, she had just gotten tired and been stupid enough to believe that someone else would appreciate having yet another mouth to feed. She wandered aimlessly for awhile, purposeless. Dying a little every time she thought of her selfish, ignorant mistake.
And then she met her prince.
Yeah, prince sounds cheesy but thats what he was, a prince that had stumbled out of his fairy tale and into her nightmare. He was beautiful, honorable and funny (even if she was the only one who caught his subtle humor) and to top it off he was rich (she wont pretend that the money wasn't a perk). He made her uncertain, he made her hopeful. She wondered what he saw in her, she wondered why she couldn't see it in herself.
They got married and suddenly she was living in a dream, a dream filled with tea ceremonies and unrealistic shoes (no one, no one could fit in those.. death contraptions) and someone who loved her far more than she could ever hope to deserve. Hisana loved Byakuya, she loved the dream that he had led her to, but for her it was only a dream. When she was honest with herself she knew that she wanted to wake up.
She began to search for her sister, at first just to have something to do while Byakuya was away, something to ease the pain of guilt but slowly it became her obsession. Nearly every day she searched only to leave Rukongai at dusk, more tired than when she had begun.
And then she got sick.
Hisana wished desperately that she wasn't dying, for his sake, but a part of her was happy to be relieved of the tremendous guilt she felt for abandoning Rukia, if that was even her name anymore. Not that she didn't love her life with Byakuya, she was happy with him and she was grateful but death is a temporary state of the soul and eventually she would have to enter the living world again, she would be kidding herself if she said she was going to live with him forever.
Her last day as a dying person was surprisingly anticlimatic (she wasn't sure exactly how she was supposed to feel about that) she didnt get a special feeling, no tingles, no fear. He held her hand and she was so far gone that she felt if he let go she would disperse into a million spirit particles.
Her death (if you can even call it that) was peaceful and simple, something she was unfamiliar with but found she liked a lot. She found she was the one doing the most comforting but that was okay. He was so much younger than her, she realized, he had so much more time. She asked him to find her, Rukia and she reminded him one last time how happy he made her.
And then she woke up.
I wasn't sure I wanted to post this but I decided to stop stressing and (finally) just put something up. Yup.. my first story/unknownshortthing on ff.n et (see how I waited till the end to tell you so you wouldn't be like "Ugghh newbie") anyway, please review even if it's to say you hated it with a deep passion embedded within your soul or you could compliment me, I like that too.
