I ran. Ran and ran. Don't stop I told myself. Rough arms pulled me back and covered my mouth with a cloth so I couldn't breathe. I tried to scream, but my voice was hoarse from all of my yelling and fighting. A loud boom was heard behind us as smoke filled the air. I tried to struggle out of his arms but they were too strong. I really couldn't get out of this one. He knows me too well. Tears poured down my face as the blackness tried to take over. Why couldn't they see me? Why wouldn't they help me? Why did he betray me? Gunshots were now going off and bombs were landing everywhere. Darkness took me over, and I finally accepted the fact that I had failed. The great Maximum Ride was gone, dead, and broken. He had won. He had left me.
