Luffy did not think
unnecessary thoughts. Some would contend he did not think at all, but
he did. He just would not complicate everything with thoughts of
what-ifs and maybes. There were only two paths in his mind; what he
did do, and what he did not. When he came to a fork in his path he
took one and never thought of what could have been afterward.
The one thought that
guided him and pushed him on was that he would become the Pirate
King. His mind did not waver.
Zoro did not think of
anything that would get in the way of his goals. If some unbidden
thought or worry popped up, he would shove it away and forget about
it. Things like that were distracting and he did not have time for
distractions. He could only focus on one thing. If there was anything
that could slow him down it was unimportant or to be defeated.
Zoro would be the best
swordsman. He promised himself he would, and it was the only thing he
could aim toward.
For Luffy, thoughts about Zoro were not unnecessary. To be Pirate King he would need a strong crew, and Zoro was the first of his crew members. He was important and he played a hand in everything Luffy did.
For Zoro, Luffy would never get in the way of his goals. He was actually a catalyst for his change, and he would probably cause many more changes in the future. Luffy actually propelled him along.
Captain and swordsman were both determined and were sure they would get what they were after. They were also determined they would reach it together.
