Worth It
By: Riley
Summary - Cisco deals with his aversion to the cold to spend some quiet time with Caitlin. It was worth it. One of my entries for KillerVibeWeek 2018 on tumblr.
Cisco, honestly, had no idea how Caitlin liked the Snow. Even before she got their powers, every year, she would convince him to go ice skating with her. Ice skating. Ha. What a joke. But while his idea of fun on a snow day was staying in his pajamas all day, eating massive amounts of junk food, and watching TV, hers was to go out to the rink and glide around.
And, as she did every year, Caitlin convinced him to go. So when everything in the city was shut down, Cisco opened a breach and they leapt through, arriving at the waterfront. The completely frozen waterfront. It looked sketchy to him, but Caitlin happily dropped her skates and took a few steps out onto the front water.
Cisco watched her as she did so. And complained. "How do you do it?" He asked, holding his arms, shivering so hard his teeth chattered like chicklets bumping together. "How can you not be cold? I mean, yeah, you've got your powers, but this is ridiculous."
"It's not that bad, Cisco," Caitlin's teasing tone wafted over to him, though she continued to face away from him.
"Easy for you to say. You don't have to worry about your balls dropping." Cisco tossed his head. "I've had that happen once already, I don't need them to drop off this time." Despite his aversion to the cold, Caitlin's laughter made Cisco smile. He watched her open her arms and spin around in the snow, drifting snowflakes up around her feet. They glittered through the air, sparkling along the streetlamps surrounding the waterfront. "I'm going to die of hyperthermia, waiting for you."
"Don't worry, Cisco, I'll warm you up."
Cisco felt his cheeks blaze as he lowered his head, chuckling. Still, he watched as she smiled up at the full moon in the sky. How her brunette locks bounced around her face with her movements. Cisco was struck by how beautiful she was, how beautiful he always thought she was, and wondered, again, why she was with him.
An amazing reminder of the short time they had not to worry about other metas and attacks that'd ruin their night. Braving the cold was worth it.
"Everything's so beautiful out here," Caitlin mused.
Cisco shuffled to Caitlin, bringing up swirls of snow, and grasped her hand. He turned her towards him, cupping her cheek in his hand. "You're beautiful," he murmured. Caitlin grinned, bringing Cisco's attention to her lips, which he captured with his own.
They kissed next to the frozen waterfront, a moment to themselves among the constant action and danger that plagued them every day.
Yes, it was worth it.
