The Perfect Christmas
Ed whistled Christmas tunes as he prepared a small dinner for his lover and himself. He finished preparing a salad before covering it and placing it in the fridge, then checked on the chicken in the oven. He was pouring himself a glass of wine when the phone rang. He crossed the room and quickly answered.
"Hello?" He said cheerily into the receiver waiting for a reply.
"Edo, it's me," Roy replied.
"Oh, hey you. Dinners almost ready when you getting home?" The blonde said with a smile.
"About that, I'm going to be home late tonight,"
"But Roy it's-,"
"I know, I know," Roy interrupted, "it's Christmas Eve. I'm really sorry but there's some papers I needed to have turned in yesterday and Riza won't let me leave till I've finished them."
Ed heard Hawkeye snort in the background, his smile faded a little.
"It's ok; do your work, Roy. Stop giving Hawkeye a hard time, I'll see you when you get home then."
Roy chuckled on the other end, "I'll try. I will make it up to you Edo, Promise."
"Yeah, you better," Ed replied teasingly before hanging up.
The blonde sighed and leant against the kitchen counter, thinking for a while before taking the chicken out of the oven and putting it in the warmer then moving into the living room. He flopped himself down on the sofa, being careful not to spill his wine, and gazed into the fireplace. The warm flames crackled in the hearth, making him smile. He let his thoughts take over as he lay across the sofa, sipping his wine slowly.
Times like these were rare for Edward Elric, times were he had nothing to do, no one depending on him to get something done. Times when it was just Ed and his thoughts. He favoured times like these and wished Roy could be with him to enjoy it as well. But that couldn't be helped; his lover was a lazy bastard at times and he rarely did his paperwork. Ed didn't blame Hawkeye at all, how could he? It wasn't her fault.
'It's just how Roy is.' Ed thought before he fell asleep.
Roy jangled his keys as he tried to find the right one; he slipped it into the lock and let himself into Ed and his apartment. It was well past midnight which meant it was Christmas and Roy just had to work late. He knew Ed would not be happy about it, even if he didn't let it show. He took off his coat and his shoes, leaving them by the door along with his briefcase. He quietly made his way towards the light in the living room. He smiled softly as he caught sight of his little lover, curled up on the couch, fast asleep. He went around and leaned down to kiss Ed on his forehead.
"Edo," he said softly while brushing the blonde's hair out of his face.
Ed stirred but didn't wake.
"Edo," he repeated as the blonde slowly started to wake up.
"Roy?" He said sleepily before sitting up and rubbing his eyes, "what time is it?"
"About half past twelve," Roy said before picking Ed up bridal style in his arms.
"Waah! Roy, what're you doing?" Ed exclaimed, half awake, "put me down, I can walk."
Roy just grinned down at his lover before taking him to their bedroom and setting him down on the bed. Ed glared at Roy but he blatantly ignored it and nudged Ed into the bed before getting in next to him. The blonde sighed and curled up into Roy's chest.
"Love you, Roy," Ed said softly.
Roy grumbled in acknowledgement pulling his lover closer.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Ed said quickly, "Merry Christmas, Roy."
Roy chuckled and bought Ed's lips up to his, capturing them in a deep and passionate kiss.
"Merry Christmas, Edo."
