"Brother, I…NO," Al screamed, scarring himself awake. He looked wildly around, sweat pouring down his face. Ed grunted and rolled over.
"Al? Is something wrong?" al took a deep breath, trying to slow his pounding heart.
"No. No, I'm fine."
"You sure? You sounded terrified."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I just had…had a nightmare."
"Do you want to tell me about it?" Al shook his head, then, realizing Ed couldn't see him, said, "No. Maybe in the morning, but not right now."
The next morning
Ed rolled over, his eyes stubbornly closed against the morning sun. He sniffed, the smell of bacon and eggs encouraging him to open his eyes and wander down stairs.
In the kitchen, Al was at the stove, a spatula in his hand. He jumped when Ed wrapped his arms around his waist, whispering, "Good morning, Love. "
"Good morning, Brother. In the future, could you not sneak up on me when I'm cooking? I might burn myself," Al replied jokingly angry. Ed pouted, then remembered,
"Are you going to tell what you were dreaming about last night?" Al shook his head. "I…I can't, Brother. I can't bear to remember that dream. It was too horrible," he whispered. Ed frowned. What could Al have possibly seen last night that terrified him so?
"Maybe if you talk about it, it will make you feel better?" Al seemed hesitant, but nodded.
"The dream started out pretty nice. I-I dreamt that you proposed to me." Al blushed profusely at this admittance, but continued. "Then, the dream skipped ahead to the wedding. That's when the dream turned into a nightmare. Envy and the other homunculi showed up and, without warning, jumped you and k-killed…killed you." Tears started to flow freely down Al face. Ed automatically pulled Al into his arms and hugged the younger to his body.
"Shh…it's okay. It was just a dream. It's alright. Nothing's going to happen to me at all. I promise." Ed continued to murmur soothing words to his brother and boyfriend 'til he stopped crying.
"Do you promise, Ed? Do you promise you'll be with me 'til death," Al asked in a whisper.
"Always and forever, my little Al. I promise I will be there always and forever." Ed kissed the top of Al's head.
