It was early morning, and Artemis Fowl hadn't slept a wink. He had too much on his mind, even more so than usual. He hadn't slept in his own bed for apparently three years, and the silk sheets weren't as comforting as he remembered. There were so many feelings rushing through him. There was shock at the fact that he was in limbo for three years, though it only felt like minutes. He possessed guilt for having to mesmerize and lie to his parents about why he was gone so long, and why he was still fourteen, rather than seventeen. Lastly, there was surprise to find that the world had moved on without him. Luckily, he was interrupted from his thought by the soft buzzing of the ostentatious ring that he insisted on keeping on his right index finger at all times. Artemis pressed a small button on the side of it, and a hologram crackled to life. It was Holly, just as he knew it would be.
"Hey Mud-boy, are you enjoying my eye yet?" Holly Greeted cheerily.
Artemis nodded curtly, tapping the cheek below his new left eye, "Yes, very much so, Captain Short. How's Haven been these past three years?"
"Well, Artemis," She answered, "It's changed a lot since we last saw it. For starters, the L.E.P. is back to normal, and I got my old job back."
"That's a relief!" Artemis seemed genuinely happy for her. Holly noticed that his black hair wasn't slicked back, like usual, and a few rebellious locks of obsidian tresses fell around his cheekbones. It looked nice.
Holly continued, "Also, Trouble is now the commander, and Foaly got married."
"Oh, and who is the lucky centauride?" Artemis chuckled, a very rare occurrence. His laugh was soft and low, and Holly thought it sounded rather cute.
"It was Caballine." Holly responded. "So, how have the Fowls been without their 'little Arty'?"
"They missed me a lot," Arty started, "But it seems as though they did get by without me. I mean, I am a big brother, now."
"That's good that they-"Holly stopped. "Wait, big brother? You mean to tell me that there's another Fowl running around?"
"Fowls, actually." Artemis replied, "Twin boys, Beckett and Myles. They're nearly two, and rather crazy. Myles is more like me though."
"That's a bit disconcerting. Don't let them go sneaking around any ancient oaks during the full moon." Holly joked, "Having little brothers will probably be good for you though."
"Yes, I suppose. Anyways, I'll call you back later. I think I hear the pitter-patter of little Fowl feet, coming to give 'big brother Arty' an early morning wake-up" Then, the two friends bade farewell to each other, and disconnected.
No sooner did Artemis hang up, then Becket and Myles came crashing in, to wish their new big brother a very good morning.
The End! How did you enjoy it? Please give me feedback in that little reveiw box below. :D
