Author's Note: Hi guys, this is my first Super 8 fanfic. I wanted to write a sweet one-shot between Joe and Alice since I really like both characters. I hope you like it. Please read and review. I'd really appreciate it.

Disclaimer: I did not create the Super 8 characters.

"Joe?" Came a hushed voice.

Joe's head swung around.

"Alice! What are you doing here?" He whispered furiously.

"It's my dad, he's drinking again and I needed to get out."

Joe was sitting outside his house on the curb, it was humid out and he couldn't sleep.

"May I join you?" Alice asked and slipped a bit of her long hair behind her ear.

Joe nodded and Alice snuggled down next to him. He sighed, it had been a very long day. He was tired, but alas he couldn't sleep at all. Weird things had been happening in town lately. The train accident was still giving him nightmares. He didn't want to believe it had happened, but all the others had seen it too. Alice was the only one helping him keep it together.

"I know it's tough dealing with what we saw...I mean, I still get scared sometimes. Strange things have been happening, but all of us: you, me, Cary, Preston, Charles, and Martin. We have each other." Alice reasoned, noticing Joe's reserved behavior.

Without her I'd probably have gone insane already, Joe thought.

"He didn't hurt you did he?" Joe asked Alice quietly.

Alice turned to him and gave a forced smile. "No, I'm fine."

But Joe knew better. He could see the tear stains on Alice cheeks and her eyes looked red and puffy.

Joe gently placed his arm around Alice's shoulders and pulled her closer. She gladly returned the embrace and rested her head on his chest.

"Thank you Joe." She sighed.

Her breath was warm and he buried his face in her soft hair that looked silvery in the moonlight.

Joe stared at the moon for a while until he could hear Alice's breathing become heavy and steady. She'd fallen asleep.

Eventually Joe's eyelids became heavy and he began to drift off as well. He fell asleep with Alice in his arms, snuggled comfortably together, until morning.

The two awoke when the sun was just coming up over the horizon.

"Oh, I'm sorry Alice. I should've woken you up…"

"No, no, it's fine Joe." Alice smiled and hugged Joe.

He hugged her back and when she let go she sat staring at him for a few seconds.

Joe's eyes darted around a bit nervously, he didn't know if her intent stare was a good thing or a bad one.

"I love you Joe." She whispered and reached up to place her hands on either side of his face.

Joe could feel his face growing hot.

Alice pulled forward and kissed him gently and sweetly on the lips. He returned the favor.

When she let him go, she pushed her hair away from her face.

"I'll see you later, ok Joe?"

Joe could only nod, a bit shocked.

Then Alice ran off.

Joe was left sitting on the curb, blushing, and wondering what other surprises the day would bring.
