"For God's sake, Charles!" Magneto burst out, pacing the floor of the study. "I warned you, so many times, that this would happen!" His voice cracked, and all the metal in the room creaked, beginning to twist unnaturally. "Now do you see? We won't ever be able to live in peace!"

"Erik!" Charles' voice was a command. "Calm your mind!" He paused, then added more quietly, "There is still hope, my friend. Not everyone will accept what has passed. We may yet be able to reason-" Magneto cut him off, his smile bitter."I've heard all this before, Charles." he responded. "I'm afraid the line has already been drawn. I will not stand by while our brothers and sisters suffer." With that, he turned and left, glancing back only once.
