AN: Just a little Oneshot I wrote a while ago. It's really short. I almost forgot to post it.
Calleigh sat in the chair at her desk. In front of her lay paperwork that waited to be done but she couldn't concentrate on her work. She stared at the pencil that lay next to the files, as her thoughts wandered around.
When she heard someone clearing their throat, Calleigh jumped in her chair and turned around. Eric stood in the doorway looking at her with a slight smile.
"How long have you been standing there?" she asked.
"Long enough to know that you're not working. Are you okay?" Eric asked and stepped into her office, closing the door behind him.
Calleigh took a deep breath. "I don't know," she replied with a trembling voice. "It's… I…"
"Hey, Cal," Eric said laying a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. He knew it was rare to see her that emotional and it nearly broke his heart. She hated to lose control but it seemed like the events of the past few days had left their mark.
She took another deep breath before she spoke up again. "Can you please get me out of here?" she asked looking up at him.
"Sure, come on," Eric replied and guided her out of her office.
Eric walked Calleigh to his car and asked if he should take her home but she said that she just wanted to get some fresh air, so Eric drove down to the pier. They wandered in silence, side by side, until they came to a bench.
"Wanna sit down?" Eric asked.
Calleigh just nodded and let Eric guide her towards the bench. They sat next to each other, Eric resting his arm on the backrest behind Calleigh. She still didn't say a word.
"Cal, please talk to me, what's wrong?" he asked with a concerned look. "Please, you're scaring me," he pleaded.
Calleigh sighed. "It's just…too much has happened the last few days," she finally said, her voice trembling.
Slipping his arm around her shoulders, Eric pulled her towards him to give her some comfort, although he knew that there wasn't much he could do.
"First the abduction, then my lab today… and it certainly doesn't help that Alexx left the lab. I mean, I get that she wants to spend more time with her family but what about us? She just left us," Calleigh said and a tear ran down her cheek. Eric squeezed her shoulders lightly.
"I know it's pretty selfish of me, but why did she leave us? I mean, we need her." Calleigh's voice now was thick with tears.
"Come here," Eric whispered taking her fully into his arms. He ran a hand through her hair and placed a soft kiss on her forehead letting her cry silently into his chest. Every once in a while he whispered sweet, comforting words into her ear.
After a while Calleigh shifted in his arms and Eric loosened his grasp a little. He looked down at her and smiled.
"Feeling better?" he asked.
"I don't know," she replied honestly. "Can we just sit here a little longer and you hold me?" Calleigh asked and looked like a little girl up at Eric.
With her face upturned towards Eric she appeared like a little girl rather than a grown woman. He smiled. "Of course we can."
They stayed sitting on the bench until Eric noticed that Calleigh had fallen asleep and carefully lifting her up he carried her towards his car to drive her home.
AN: So, what do you think? Good? Bad? Comments make me very very happy.
