"Aragorn is what?"
"Your ears do not deceive you,"
"It can not be!"
"My Lady, I would not lie to you."
"But, but Legolas, how can this be?"
"It is one of their long hidden secrets."
"They?"
"Aragorn's family line, for generations it has past down through the men."
"How long have you known?" Arwen asked, still distressed from this news.
"I have known of it for years, I had hoped that it somehow skipped a generation and missed him."
"Is that why he never washed it?"
"Yes, when he was young he was told never to let it be seen, or the whole of his line would be disgraced."
"But why? It is not as though it is all that disgraceful."
"No, it is not, I suffer from it as well."
Arwen was about to reply when Aragorn entered the room. He was wearing a large cloak, covering him from head to toe .
"Legolas. What are you doing here?" For some reason, Aragorn sounded as though he was angry at Legolas.
"Nothing, I was just leaving." Then he added quietly to Arwen. "Be kind and loving to him, his heart is still troubled by having his secret come out." With that Legolas left.
After watching Legolas depart, Aragorn turned back to Arwen. "There is something I must tell you, or rather, show you."
With that Aragorn dropped his cloak to the ground.
"Has it been that way forever?" Arwen asked staring at it in disbelief. She had tried to imagine it as Legolas had explained, but this was just so… bright!
"Yes, I had to not wash it, and to keep it covered in dirt for all my life. But after what they did to me, I just can't get it dirty." Aragorn looked down at the floor.
"What did they do to you? And whom?" Arwen seemed truly worried. Legolas had not explained much when he was there.
"The other members of the fellowship, they said that they thought it would be nice for me to have it clean when I came back to you."
"What happened?" Arwen asked starting to get the idea.
"We were camped at a small hot-spring a little ways from here, it was my watch… they had been plotting, they attacked me and pulled me in to the spring, then Legolas got some kind of soap." Aragorn stopped for a moment.
"It is called Shampoo" Arwen helped him.
"Yes that's it, he put some of that in my hair. It must have some kind of elvish spell on it, for now my hair will not get dirty, whatever I try!"
"Do not trouble yourself, for it will fade in time. I do not know how long, a few weeks at most. Besides you look good as a blonde!" Arwen said trying to cheer Aragorn up.
"It does not mater to you that I am a… a blonde?" he said it as though the word tasted bad.
"It does not matter at all. As I said, you make a good blonde, though I do like your hair when it is dark, better." Arwen confessed, trying to hide a smile.
Aragorn glared at her, "Stop it."
"Stop what?" Arwen asked, trying not to giggle.
"That! You think it looks funny!" Aragorn said, starting to smile himself.
"I do not! I think it is nice! In a funny sort of way…" Arwen said, all out laughing now.
"Fine, laugh your head off, but I'm putting the cloak back on!" Aragorn said laughing as well.
"Yes, I thing that would be good." Arwen said trying to catch her breath. "So what are you going to do to them?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well you have to do something! You can not just let them get away with this!"
"You are right, I must think of something. Something big. Something that they will never forget..."
