"Akko, c'mon we're gonna be late," Lotte called out to her friend, the trio of girls woke up to a bright and warm day welcoming them with the sun's golden rays shining brightly on the whole academy putting everyone in a good mood today. The sky was clear, the clouds were off in the distance, the birds were singing, and the groundskeepers did a wonderful job keeping the grass healthy and green, and the flowers bloomed with bright colors.

"C'mon, Akko," Sucy called out as their friend was hurrying to get her uniform on, "I'm coming! I'm coming!" Akko expressed with anxiety, she buttons up the last button on her vest, and holsters her wand, "there, I'm ready," Akko proclaimed feeling confident for the day ahead. With her text books wrapped under her arm she joined her friends, slamming their dorm room closed.

The three friends headed off to their first class of the day walking pass other students, at the begin of their first day in Luna Nova, Lotte Jansson, Sucy Manbavaran, and especially, Atsuko Kagari, weren't so viewed highly among their peers. But ever since Akko and the rest of her friends saved the world from the malevolent, Noir Rod, the trio were now full recognized as witches and heroes. Including, Akko.

Alchemy Class

Taking their assigned seats the students talked amongst one another about mundane things as they waited for their Alchemist Teacher, so far nothing out of the ordinary, "so, what do think is today's assignment?" Akko asked taking her seat, "we'll be changing the element of the metal that is presented to us," said an extra voice. The tone of this person's voice sound well mannered and mature it could only be one person with such tone, "oh, hi Diana," Akko greeted the well praised prodigy, "so, do you think you're up to the task, Akko?" Diana asked her, feeling confident for her new friend.

Hearing her words Akko felt her morale boost up, "sure am, luckily I've been doing nothing, but reading up on it," Akko proclaimed boldly waving her wand high, "calm down, Akko, wait til the teacher gets here," Lotte suggested getting her friend to sit back down. Very soon the class' Alchemist Teacher eventually enter the room, "good morning students," she greeted, and her students greeted back, "today we'll be turning a block of low quality iron into something more suitable," the teacher instructed.

She placed a rusty block of iron onto a wooden stump and called out the first name, "Ms. Cavendish, why don't you go first," she called up, Diana didn't utter a single word, she was perfectly quiet as she walked up to the wooden stump. She took up her wand waving it high, she then recites the magic words, and *POOF!* the rustic piece of metal turned into pure platinum, all the other girls awed and clapped at Diana's achievement, "very good Ms. Cavendish, A++," the teacher awarded her.

Other students soon a had a go at the spell with, Lotte, turning her's into silver, Sucy, turning her's into brass, and finally it was Akko's turn, she took up her wand spinning it between her fingers, and *POOF!* the block of iron was no longer itself anymore, or even metal it looks. Akko and the Alchemist teacher looked to find that the block of iron had turned into some sorta dark pile of powder, "aww man, I ended up with sand," Akko complained, "at least it didn't blow up," Sucy said otherwise. However the pile of powder then gave out a tiny sparked as the left over flash from Akko's wand landed on it and the Alchemist then realized something, "that's not sand, that's-" *BOOOOOOM!* "... blasting powder."

A loud deafing explosion was heard coming from the classroom as one small spark managed to land on the pile and covered the whole class in soot, the teacher glared at Akko for a moment making the girl on edge, "I would give you, D ,for causing another explosion, but since you actually made something this time (even though ironically it causes explosions), I'll award you a, C... +," she told her. Even though it wasn't a great grade, the plus on the of that, C, was good enough to make Akko's eye shine with joy.

Lunch Time

Sitting at a table, Akko, looked down at a piece of paper that is her grade sheet, it wasn't a shining example of what good grades should be, but it wasn't the worst either, so far the report card had, C's, "cheer up, Akko, at least you're improving, you just have to take baby steps," Lotte suggested, "unless you fall flat on your butt," Sucy joked chuckling to herself. Akko gave out a sigh of grief as she just thought after she finally managed to fly a broom on her own she could overcome her troubles in the class just as easy, but at last that's not how it works.

Eventually, Akko, just puts her report card away and just picks up her fork to eat her launch, "hello girls," said an older voice the girls turned around to see, Ursula, greeting the three, "hi Ms. Ursula," Akko greeted back to her teacher/ideal. It still felt a little strange that the witch, Akko, looked up to as a kid was hiding right under her nose the whole time she was a student at, Luna Nova, with her hair remaining its original color of bright red.

"How are studies going, Akko?" Ursula asked the girl, "uh, they're doing better than before," Akko told her a bit hesitantly, showing her the piece of paper, Ursula takes it in her hand analyzing what is written, "well, this is better than before," Ursula commented making, Akko's eyes shine.

"Really?" she asked almost jumping out of her chair, "yes, it really is, with a little more effort you could probably get it up to a, B," Ursula advised sounding proud- *bang!* something loud was heard over the whole cafeteria. It sounded like something had bounced off the window, a big smudge was left behind on the other side of the glass, some of the girls took a closer look to see what caused it, "what just hit the window?" one student asked while another shrugged her shoulders- *CRASH!*

A loud sound of glass shattering startled everyone in the room as a big crow crashed through the window, it landed onto the clean tiled floor skidding across the cafeteria. The bird cawed and thrashed around the floor, as dust of glass was sprinkled on its feathers, Ursula, quickly ran up to the frighten crow, and grabs one of the raggs off a lunch table. She drops it over the bird to avoid getting cut from the glass and grabs hold of it, the crow still cried out still in a state of panic, but with another look out the window made everyone stare in shock as a huge murder of crows flew passed, flying far away from the academy.

There were so many of them souring over the school that it almost blocked out the sun, "look at them all," Sucy commented amazed at the number of them, "where are they all going?" Akko asked, "something must've really spooked them," Lotte added. As the three and the many other students looked up to the sky, Urusla, walked out to let the crow go, but before she did she listen carefully to what the crow was saying, and she didn't like it, "... oh no," she sets the bird free and quickly runs back inside.

Potions Class

After the birds had left the students had went back to their class schedule, Akko and her friends sat in the front row of the room as their Potions Teacher, Ms. Lukić, gave her lecture to the whole class all the while scaring them at the same time. She poured vials, big and small, filled with colorful liquids with labels that made students deeply on edge, except for Sucy as she loved every minute of it. This is without a doubt is her favorite class. But Lukić's fun was cut short when a staff member stepped through the door calling everyone's attention, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but all students must attend to an emergency announcement at the auditorium, immediately," she stated clearly for all of them to hear.

When she was done she turned around and walked out of the room to inform the next class, all of the student glanced at one another confused to why this announcement was so important, but they did what was instructed, and headed to the academy's auditorium.

Auditorium

Everyone from the academy was present, ranging from the janitor to the headmistress herself, from the large collection of murmurs, Headmistress Holbrooke, walks up to the podium, and clears her throat, "good morning everyone," she started.

"You're all probably wondering why we called you all in here, including the working staff," she pointed out the obvious, then a student's hand rose up wanting to speak, "is it because of the birds?" she asked. Everyone else agreed to what she had to say with everyone recalling what they saw earlier, "well... yes and no," Miranda said with a hint of hesitation and the whole room started to question it, but Anne stepped in to resolve the issue, "look, the flock isn't the issue why we brought you all here, it's because we're going to reinstall a curfew effective immediately," sternly told everyone.

Everyone wanted to cry out in annoyance, but Anne continued, "all students must head back to their dorms immediately after dinner time, and remain in behind locked doors. Do not, I repeat, do NOT open your doors no mater what until the sun rises, so I suggest you go to the bathroom before. Do I make myself clear?" Anne spoke with her usual authoritative manner. As much all the students wanted to protest the curfew, but they were in no position to argue, so they complied with the school staff.

"Awwwww, a curfew, that's not fair," Akko griped as her and her friends left the auditorium, putting on a pouting face which made, Lotte, giggle, "c'mon, Akko, I'm pretty sure the curfew won't be around for long, and besides it can't be that bad," Lotte said trying to lighten the mood. Even though Akko had no problems with her room or her friends, but having to stay in the same place for long period of time with nothing to do could be maddening; she really hopes Lotte is right because she is not looking forward to holding it in til morning to use the restrooms, "want me to get a bucket for you, Akko," Sucy joked making her friends turn red.

7:00 p.m.

The sun was setting, just barely meeting with the horizon as the night approaches, "c'mon girls, time to go back to your dorms," Nelson shouted out as she flew across the academy to get around faster, but she seemed like she was in a hurry, "it's almost curfew time, show a little hustle," she added. The students dropped what they were doing as there was no time to even study, so they gathered what they needed and carried it to their dorms.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up, Jazz," Amanda stopped her hefty friend, Jasminka, "I think having you bring more snacks ain't a good a idea, unless you wanna wait all night to use the bathroom," letting her know that eating up before going to bed might not seem too bright. Many of the student walked back to their dorms in droves as the teachers encouraged them to get their hastily, "do you guys find it odd that the teachers are acting in such a hurry?" Sucy asked. Lotte and Akko thought about it and agreed with their friend, the teacher were acting a bit more concerned than they had to be rushing the students into their dorms before the sun disappears under the horizon.

They made it to their rooms and when all three of the girls were in the door was slammed shut, "sheesh, they need to learn how to cool it," Akko commented after the door to their dorm was sealed, "so what should we do to past the time?" Lotte asked, "I got some new mushrooms I found under the stair wale, you can be my guinea pigs," Sucy smiled devilishly. She reached into her pocket fishing out a dark and ominous mushroom that just emits a strong odor, Lotte and Akko, jumped onto the top bunk wanting to get as far away from the toxic plant as possible, "maybe another time, hehehee," Sucy chuckled.

Bedtime

When the night finally arrived the stars sparkled across the sky as the moon took the sun's place, the girls of the school soon traded their academy uniforms for their nightgown, and got ready for bed. Lotte jumped into her bunk, Sucy bottled up her potions for next time, and Akko turned off the lights before pulling her covers over herself, "good night guys," Akko said, "good night, Akko, see you in the morning," Lotte replied, "good night, Sucy," Akko said turning to their third member, but, Sucy, was already sleeping, and the dorm fell silent.

There was nothing there, the hallways were silent, and flooded with darkness as all of, Luna Nova, was fast asleep before their usual bedtime of, 10:00 p.m, it was utter bliss, until a strangle rattling noise was heard, Akko, slowly awoke to the sound, she looked around to see what was causing it. She scanned the whole room, she didn't find what was causing the noise, but finally, Akko, laid her sights on the door, and the doorknob was rattling.

"Lotte, Sucy wake up," Akko whispered to her friends trying to get their attention, "is it morning already?" Lotte asked drowsy, but Akko put her hand over her mouth telling Lotte to be quiet, "someone's at the door," Akko told her. The girls set their sights on the door seeing the knob twisting rapidly, at the bottom of the door they saw a shadow between the space, the girls didn't make a sound, hoping that whoever is on the other side thinks no one's in there. After several moments the knob finally stopped and the shadows between the space walked out of view, the girls rose up from the their blankets trying to listen for the foot steps, but the odd thing was, the steps were quiet. They expected the steps to be loud, booming stomps from a big pair of boots, but instead they got a soft clapping sound, and so figured that the person must be walking around barefoot.

"Akko," Sucy called to her, "what, Sucy?" Akko replied still a little frighten, "we didn't lock the door," she told them, and ,Lotte and Akko, shot their gaze to their friend. Lotte slowly approached the door, she brought up her wand, and tapped it on the door, bright light green runes appeared on the door, "what is it?" Sucy asked looking over Lotte's shoulders, "it's a barrier spell," she informed them, "what!? are you saying we're locked inside our dorm?" Akko asked in a panic. Lotte shook her head, "no, it only works on one side, but it looks like we can still open it from our end," she explained carefully, "so who put it up? and most importantly who or what, tried to get in?" Sucy prompted the biggest questioned.

"OOOOOOOOOOOHH..."

A long, deep, and eerie moan was let out on the other side of the door making the girls jump back as the sound scared them, they jumped back into their beds burying themselves under their blankets.

Somewhere Else

Even though she knew she shouldn't have eaten before bed despite being warned by, Amanda; Jasminka, still smuggled her snacks in as usual, and now she needs to use the restroom even though she could get in big trouble for it if she gets caught. She waited and made sure that her friends were fast asleep, she quietly tipped-toed her way out of her room, and then made her way to the bathroom.

She peeked around the corners of the halls just to make sure it was clear, but hasn't come across a single soul the entire time she left the dorm so, Jasminka, stopped with the tip-toeing. The unusually hungry girl navigated her way through the dark academy until she eventually found the restroom, she quietly locked herself in one of the stalls, and took care of her business.

"OOOOOOOOOOOHH..."

A sound of deep moan was heard echoing, the noise bouncing off the walls, Jasminka, was spooked by it, sounding like a howl, but it didn't sounded like no wolf or dog, it sounded human. Jasminka, finished up what she had to do, and quickly speed walk her way back to her dorm, being extra careful because, Jasminka, now knows she is not wandering the halls alone. Jasminka's feet clapped against the tiled floor, but stops at a crossroad, she doesn't remember a junction being here, thinking she must've taken a wrong turn- *huff*.

Jasminka, snaps back around feeling something breath down on the back of her neck, she slowly backs away as her fear started to build up, she took the next hall speeding up her pace however she heard something was off. Passing by a wet floor sign, Jasminka, abruptly stopped in her tracks, the echos her feet made seized falling silent, but was followed with an extra step that wasn't her's- *bang!*.

A loud sound was made behind her, she slowly turns her head however to her relief she only found that the sign managed to fall flat on the floor, "I found you," a whisper spoke out to, Jasminka, as if directly into her ear. She frozed in fear as someone or something has caught her, Jasminka's heart and mind started racing rapidly, and she couldn't help, but slowly turn her attention to the voice that came behind her. When, Jasminka, turned her head around to whatever has found her moved so quickly before, Jasminka, could scream it dragged her away.

The halls were empty. Void of life. Silence fell onto the school.
