Author's note:
I own none of the characters referenced therein, and I do not own any part of the show Glee.
(With sincere apologies to the memory of the late Robert Altman for drawing a parallel between his masterful Hollywood satire and the dreadful television show Glee)
Season 5 and Beyond (for a friend, because she asked so nicely)
Blaine Anderson moves to New York City after his acceptance to NYADA. He immediately becomes the young star of the school, wowing the instructors, faculty, and other students with his blinding, brilliant talent. On a social level, first on his agenda is stealing Adam away from Kurt. He confides to Kurt that he has no feelings of attraction toward Adam, but does this merely to show Kurt that he intends to take everything of importance and meaning from him because he can and for no other reason.
After a few weeks or months of stringing Adam along, Blaine breaks off their relationship. Adam is crushed.
Blaine begins to get high-profile attention for his work and becomes a rising star on Broadway: his face is literally everywhere, haunting both Kurt and Adam at every turn. As movie deals begin to be offered to Blaine and his future prospects become firmly established, he reveals himself to have been heterosexual the entire time: his image as a gay man was merely a ruse to make him more credible and bankable in the world of live musical theater. Blaine Anderson's fanbase increases exponentially at the confession that he is straight.
With rising-star Blaine's revelation, a media-frenzy occurs. He is embraced by the Faux News channel and becomes an inescapable face on the network. He inks a new management deal, and strategists help him to fabricate a story that his "coming out as straight" was the result of successful conversion therapy. Consequently, he becomes a well-paid spokesperson for the procedures.
Faux News hires Blaine Anderson, and he becomes their new rising-star as well, ambushing enemies of the channel's agenda and confronting them publicly in guerrilla-style interviews with which the news source has become identified.
Kurt and Adam retreat to each other out of default as opposed to any genuine feelings they might have for each other, beginning a loveless relationship. Driven by the emotional torment of losing Blaine and the empty relationship in which he finds himself, Adam falls into depression and substance abuse. Kurt looks after him dutifully for months. Ultimately, though, Adam returns to his native country, a frail ghost of the bright, optimistic person Kurt initially met at NYADA.
Kurt returns to Lima, crushed by his experiences at NYADA. Upon his return, he travels to the local cemetery to visit his mother's grave. At a distance, he sees the figure of Paul Karofsky and approaches him. Paul's face is creased and aged beyond his years, marked with a heavy sadness as he stares upon the marker of his son's interment. He informs Kurt that several months of failed therapy at Dave's mother's insistence resulted in the success of Dave's second suicide attempt.
After marrying Willow Palin, daughter of Sarah, Blaine Anderson is named as the running-mate for Paul Ryan's successful run for the presidency in 2020. Blaine becomes an icon, a role-model. The people who adored him when they believed that he was gay love him even more now, giving him credit for helping them to see the error of their past philosophies. Blaine has shown them how wrong homosexuality is, and that there is a cure, and that it is, in fact, a choice. He has made a difference.
If there's one thing that canon has taught us, it's that Blaine Anderson can never lose.
