This is a poem that I wrote for my Senior Year poetry class and it actually got sent to a contest and I won one of the Merit Awards for this poem. Poems are sent in front all of the country and my poem was actually top 10 where I won 25 dollar saving bonds.
The poem was inspired by the characters of Sawyer and Kate from the hit tv series "Lost." Its based on season one on the episode called "Confidence Man" where Sawyer asks Kate for a kiss and makes her read the letter when she tells him she thinks she knows him. I tweaked it a bit but it has the same basic emotion. If you have seen the show and the episode then you know what I'm talking about...if not well...I hope you like it anyway
Surrender
His eyes followed her.
She could not move.
It was like she was paralyzed.
As he inched closer she could feel the heat of his body.
radiating against her
She could feel his stare.
She didn't dare look into his eyes
for she knew she would all control.
He was waiting for her to look up and she knew it.
She knew he wanted to taste those luscious lips.
As much as she wanted to drink him in.
He willed her to look up but she wasn't ready to let him see her.
As if knowing what she was thinking, he backed off.
They stood there for a minute, emotions high.
Taking a deep breath she turned from him and left.
Unfulfilled
Ashley
