Put my long story on hold for a day or too so I can figure out how I want it to go. So in the mean time here's a cute story I've head in my head for awhile. Finally getting it out.

Jayne didn't understand why he was the one picked to chaperone the Moonbrian, while she browsed through all the shops.

Jayne had better things to do. Like drink. Not following this girl around while she looked at things she didn't understand or said were wrong.

But then her eyes feel on a picture from the Earth that once was. She was memorized by it. It was a postcard from a place called Disney Land, and had a little boy wearing a mouse ears hat standing with a huge mouse.

"I want that hat." She said, not to anyone particular mainly to herself.

"Lets go gorrammit! You aint got no money to buy anything so get movin'!"

But River wouldn't let the postcard be. So she took it with her. And when the man ran after them for stealing Jayne was the one who got in trouble for it.

When they were back on the ship River fall apart. Jayne didn't understand why she wanted that hat so much, and he didn't understand why he wanted her to have that hat so much.

He couldn't admit to himself that he might actually have feelings for the girl. He shook that from his mind and ignored her sobs and headed off toward his bunk.

But Jayne couldn't shake how broken the girl was. It hurt him a little as well.

"Yeh do you have a hat… with like black mouse ears?" Jayne looked at the shop owner with an embarrassed look, afraid that he sounded like an idiot, but the man knew what he was talking about and pulled on out. It was a bit damage, it was clear that it was old… and expensive. But Jayne bought it and used all the money he had.

He left the hat outside of River's door so she wouldn't know it was him who got it for her. Which was pointless because she knew everything.

"Hey Jayne I'm gonna need a little of your money, ship needs a part and were all gonna chip in to get it." Mal stated as he came to stand next to Jayne who was looking down at the cargo bay as River danced around in her hat.

"Aint got none Mal."

"What? Jayne we just got paid… You got a pretty large cut their aint no way you had time to spend it all!" Mal gave Jayne a look of pure rage and confusion.

"Well I aint got none."

It was then that Mal noticed River and the thing on her head. "What the hell is she wearing?"

Jayne just smiled knowing he had just made the girls day, hell maybe even made her year. "Don't know Mal, looks to me like mouse ears."

River looked up at Jayne then with her beaming brown eyes and pointed to her temple implying that she knew it was Jayne who gave her that wonderful gift. She returned his smile with a bright grin that mad the Merc's heart melt.

He would admit it to himself then. He liked her enough to want to get to know her.

I know it could have been written better, but I'm going through a serious writers block. But i hope everyone likes it. R&R please
