A/N: More Independence!US! Scene from the comic... Don't remember the name... something about a closet. Yeah!
Um... France didn't really have any use for New France so it wasn't really that hard to give it up, but think about the personifications! D :
England was finally a big brother and he blew it. Yeah. XD After England lost the war, he though, "Well, I had like, no allies in this. And I lost. Crap," and reformers wanted to get rid of what they thought was institutionalized corruption. Then there was France being broke, England became wealthy again and the US-England relations were back up. Then I was reading on Wiki (cause that place is so reliable) that because the UK lost the 13 colonies, they were able to pull together and beat up France with "unity and better organization."
History lesson done!

"Y-You used to be such a good colony."

The rain beat down harder, the men's grips on their rifles were slipping a bit, but the guns were drawn and ready for fire.

"I don't want to be a colony anymore. I can't survive like this."

The Reds raised their guns, each pointing at their own target. The Blues did the same. Each man had his own target and they were ready to fire on command.

"I remember… when you were still a tiny kid, afraid of your own shadow…"

"And now I'm grown and I need to start my own country."

The man on the ground refused to look up. "You can't." The Red's guns rose.

"I can't or you won't let me." The Blues followed suit.

The rain came down even harder. The mud covered each man's boots and pants.

"I-I… I don't want you to."

The standing man faltered. "W-What do you mean?"

"I… Don't want to lose you. I know when I took Canada from France… It was one of the hardest things he had to do. And… I don't want to do the same. I don't want to lose you."

"You're not going to lose me, Arthur. I'll still be here, just growing stronger. I can't stay a colony forever." He held his hand down to Arthur.

Arthur refused to look at it. Then, he looked up.

It was hard to make out in the rain and gray light, but Arthur's face was stained with tears. He looked his colony in the eyes. "You really want this."

"Yes. I do." He offered his hand again. Arthur took it.

"Then…"

I remember meeting you for the first time. You were in a field, all alone.

"I won't leave you. You won't be alone."

You called me Big Brother and held onto me.

"We will still be brothers. You can still visit."

"Fine. You can have your Independence."
