I do not own Naruto

My Brand New, Secret, (And Fake) Boyfriend

Rewrite: Chapter 1

Hello, everyone! This is a rewrite of my previous story, entitled the same, save for the exclamation point has been removed after "Fake." I hope with this rewrite I'll be able to put in better, less immature content, and create a much better version of this story using the old one as a first step. So, thank you for reading, and please leave a review if you enjoyed the chapter.

"Did I get in? Did I get in? Did I get in?" Sakura Haruno spoke quickly as she began to tear open the letter addressed to her by Princeton University. "YES! I GOT IN!" The pink-haired girl jumped in the air and began to scream, both to herself, and for the rest of the world to hear. Princeton was the only university she had applied to, and not getting in would've destroyed her. She immediately picked up the phone to call her two best friends, Ino Yamanaka and Hinata Hyuuga.

"Hello, you got Ino-chan."

"Umm… This is Hyuuga H-Hinata."

"I GOT IN!" Sakura screamed into the phone.

"OMG! ME TOO!" Hinata responded in an equally loud voice.

"SO DID I!" Ino yelled.

"Meet at the café in fifteen?" Sakura suggested. "So we can talk more about it over those cute little cookies they give you?"

"Okay!"

"See you to there!" The three girls hung up the phone and each did their own version of the happy dance.

Ino ran to her closet and smashed open her piggy bank. Gathering up all the money she could to spend on sweatshirts and other various things she probably didn't need. She then picked up the money she was going to spend on textbooks and put in another pile. She told her mom the good news and she was in Ino's room in seconds with boxes for Ino to pack with.

Sakura told her mom the news and opened up her pre-packed closet, containing everything she was taking to Princeton, already packaged, labeled, and ready to go. The future medical student had barely any doubt in her mind that she was going to get in, so she packed early. She picked up her phone, opened Siri, the voice control, and said,

"Siri! Remind me to call everyone in my phone to tell them I got into Princeton!"

"Even your dentist, Sakura-chan?"

"Er, no, just all of my favorite contacts." She put her phone in her purse, threw on a hoodie, and ran out the front door saying,

"Bye Mom! I'll be back soon!"

Hinata's chosen maneuver was to charge into her sister Hanabi's room.

"Look Hanabi! Dad said I couldn't do it, but I did!" Hanabi looked at the piece of paper in her sister's hand and screamed. As if on cue, Hiashi Hyuuga came charging through the door, almost breaking the ceramic kitten Hinata made Hanabi on her birthday, Hinata's cousin, Neji, hot on his trail.

"What happened? Are you hurt?" Hinata held up the acceptance letter and shoved it in her father's face.

"Look what happened daddy!" He read over the paper and said,

"You got into an Ivy League school? Hinata?"

"Daddy! You'll pay for it, right?" Hanabi asked, giving him the sweetest pair of puppy dog eyes she could muster.

"Of course I'll pay for my little girl's college." He said, rubbing Hinata's head like she was seven years old again.

"Oh, and I'm going to the café with Sakura and Ino!" Hinata said as she picked up her purse and headed out the door.

Several minutes later, Hinata, Sakura, and Ino were all gathered at a little table outside the café, sipping different kinds of tea, and happily discussing what was very soon going to be their lives.

"Do you know if Sai got in?" Sakura asked Ino. Ino took another sip of tea.

"I don't think he did. He applied to all of the Ivy schools, and a couple of other good ones that wouldn't turn him down. He was pretty smart that way, unlike the three of us who only applied to Princeton and then cried every night praying we'd get in." Sakura and Hinata nodded in agreement.

"Which school do you want him to get into?" Hinata asked.

"Out of Harvard, Brown, and Yale, which were his other top choices, Yale. It's only like two and a half hours away, compared to four and a half hours with Harvard and four hours with Brown." Ino sighed. "But, if he gets into Harvard, I want him to go. I know how much he wants to. I remember back in freshman year, before we were dating, he said if he got into Harvard he'd sell one of his kidneys on the black market to pay for it." She put one of the little Spritzer cookies into her mouth and ate it in one bite.

"What about you, Hinata?" Sakura questioned.

"Oh, Kiba didn't apply to any colleges, he's going to start working at his family's veterinary office immediately."

"Isn't that... illegal?" Ino replied.

"Would you rather trust some random guy with some shiny degree or Kiba with your dog, Ino?"

"Touché." Ino replied.

Kiba Inuzuka and his family ran a veterinary clinic in the girls' hometown. Everyone brought their pets there, and when a big, fancy, corporate vet clinic moved in, it was out of business in several weeks, as the only people who went in there were the ones who wanted directions to Inuzuka's. Kiba was the youngest in the family, and had a large brown and white dog named Akamaru, who followed him everywhere. Hinata had been friends with Kiba since they were children, and when they began dating, Akamaru was quick to welcome her to the family, just as Kiba's parents and relatives were. Frankly, the only people in the whole town who disapproved of their relationship was Hinata's father Hiashi, her cousin Neji, and her grandparents, who all believed that Kiba was a peasant and didn't deserve Hinata's company. They were all rightfully ignored.

"Oh, it's almost five thirty," Sakura said after checking her phone. "I've gotta be home in fifteen." She stood up, said goodbye to her friends, and got back into her car, driving back home.
