Love is Not Lost

Shawn walked slowly into the graveyard, the wet grass brushing against his ankles. He stopped and looked around at the damp ground and deserted graves with an almost lost look on his face. Sighing, he moved on.

About halfway down the row, Shawn stopped, a lump settling in the pit of his stomach. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the grave beside him. The large marble stone rose up before him, the sun reflecting off of it almost happily.

"Love is Not Lost Unless it is Forgotten"

It had been a year now. The man Shawn loved had been killed on his birthday of all days. Oh how Shawn missed him. His happy day would forever be bittersweet.

"Hey Baby." Shawn whispered. "Its my birthday today so you've been gone a year."

Shawn rested his hand against the cold stone and forced back his tears.

"Its not getting any easier. Everything reminds me of you. I wish you were here. I...I miss you." Shawn finally let his tears go and he fell to his knees, curling against his lover's gravestone.

"Why'd you have to go? Why'd you leave me? I'm all alone. It gets harder to get up in the morning." he sobbed.

Suddenly arms wrapped him in a familar embrace, his head lay against a recognizable strong chest. Looking up, Shawn's heart skipped.

"H..Hunter?" he asked softly. It was indeed Hunter. He looked younger and stronger.

"Happy Birthday Love." Hunter whispered.

"How...? You're..."

"Dead? Yeah." Hunter finished for him. "But I couldn't miss you'r birthday, dead or not dead."

Hunter smiled and kissed Shawn's hair.

"One day a year I can come back and see you. Only you can see me, but we can do whatever you want Love." Hunter told him

"So...every year on my birthday, I can see you? And we can be together?" Shawn asked. Hunter nodded.

"This is the best birthday present ever." Shawn said, snuggling against Hunter and sighing.

"I think so too." Hunter whispered.

-ONE YEAR LATER-

Shawn bolted past the graves as fast as he could. When Hunter's came into view he saw the man standing there, waiting for him. He practically jumped into the man's arms.

"Hunter." Shawn croaked. "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too Babe, What do you want to do for your birthday?" Hunter asked. Shawn kissed him.

"It doesn't matter to me, as long as you're with me." Shawn told him.

"Love is not lost unless it is forgotten."
