Hey guys! I'm back and I'm not dead! So I don't know if you guys have heard yet, but there was recently a brand new Big Nate book called "Big Nate Blasts Off" and I have to say I was thoroughly thrilled by it and you guys should go read it. Plus it has some juicy NateXRandy moments within it so check it out! I would suggest reading the book first before reading this and I don't own Big Nate. Enjoy! :-) Hope you enjoy this little quick drabble.

…

The rain was pouring and people were cheering and screaming. Thunder boomed and the mud on the ground became wetter and dirtier making everyone soaked and dirty.

Nobody cared though.

P.S. 38 had just won the Mud Bowl.

Two people in particular were staring at each other from across the lengthy, mud-filled, field and they both smiled at one another subconsciously moving closer and closer until they were on a full sprint towards one another.

They were both smiling and cheering with everyone else.

Then they collided.

A mass of flesh sunk into one another and they wrapped arms around the other's body. The taller boy wrapped his arms around the waist of the smaller one and the smaller one wrapped his arms around the taller one.

They pushed themselves closer with smiles wide and shrieks piercing eardrums all around.

The taller boy in the midst of his excitement picked the smaller boy up and twirled him around with glee never noticing the picture being taken of the two.

Being put down, the smaller boy whispered into the taller one's ear. " You did great Randy. We wouldn't have won without you."

The boy, Randy, squeezed tighter and despite the smaller boys soaked locks, he buried his face into it. " No. No thank you for believing in me Nate."

The other boy, Nate, smiled against Randy's wet shirt and lifted his head to stare at Randy through the cloudy darkness that had filled the sky.

Randy stared back.

Brown met Blue.

Blue met Brown.

They could feel each other leaning closer and closer…

" Guys! Come on let's go celebrate!" A loud female voice shouted.

Jumping away from one another as if they were on fire, they smiled shakily and thorough the mud and rain they ran towards Nate's friends and Randy's temporary teammates.

They stared at each other one more time and let a small smile show through both faces.

The rain eventually stopped and the cheers eventually dissipated. The fame and glory dwindled as weeks went by and it was long forgotten as other daily news took its place.

Two people never did though.

Never to the knowledge of their peers, they still kept the old news article with it's one misspelled word hidden in a safe place only to be looked at years later when they were old and gray wishing to relive the glory days.

They never read the article.

No.

They both looked at the picture of them hugging in glee. In joy. In happiness.

The moment they had between each other for a brief moment.

As if they felt complete with one another and never wanted to let go.

People may have forgotten.

But they never did on that faithful day in the storm.

In the mud.

And in the rain.

Together.

Complete.

Forever.
