"Daniel, why are they digging up Jack's grave? We're here for Sam's burial."

"I know that Cassie; but you know how both of them felt about each other."

"Yeah, I was always asking Sam why she and Jack didn't get together, it was obvious they loved each other. Every time she would just say they couldn't no matter how much they both wanted it, and then if I kept pressing the issue she would quote the regs at me."

"And that's exactly why they're digging up Jack's grave. While they couldn't be together in life they can be together in death. I was there when they both made their wills all those years ago. Both of them insisted that whenever they died, even if it was decades apart, they insisted that they would be buried together so that what they couldn't have in life they could have in death."

"Oh, they really did love each other."

"Yes, neither of them ever made any overt signs, but if you knew to look you could tell, they loved each other more than life itself."

"Thanks Daniel. At least now they can be together, they have to worry about regulations any more."

" No, they're free to love each other until the end of time."

With that the two last surviving members of the original SGC, gaze lovingly as the body of their long time friend and mentor Samantha Carter, is lowered to her final resting place in the arms of the man she had always loved. And if the two looked closely enough they could see above the grave, the faint outline of their lost friends meeting and embracing, preparing for the next step on their journey, except this time it would be together.
