Okay, after almost a year, I'm updating this series.

Here is your Star-centric story, paralleling Let Her Go.

Star let out a sigh as she hung up on Marco. He didn't realize she wasn't the same Star he'd met four years prior. She wasn't dumb, or ignorant, or oblivious. She'd been able to tell something was bothering him.

And he'd flat-out lied to her.

Why…?

"Starry Night!"

A handsome young man with shaggy black hair was standing in her doorway.

Mark.

"Hey!" he greeted her. "Your mom sent me to get you. She wants you to be fitted for your coronation gown!"

"Oh, okay! Thanks, Mark!"

Oh, goodness… I just realized how close his name is to Marco's!

Sadly, it might've been one of the reasons she'd agreed to "go out" with Mark in the first place. They weren't really dating, but they were together, by royal decree. Mark's father was a lord outside of Mewni; her mother wanted to annex his land onto Mewni. The natural course of action, of course, was to marry off her only daughter and future queen to a spoiled rich boy who had less brains than what Earth people called jellyfish. Unlike Marco.

Sweet, gentle Marco.

Don't think about Marco!

Then again, Mark was… okay. He looked like a black-haired, red-eyed version of the person she was trying not to think about. He didn't know karate, or play guitar, or make awesome nachos she'd down in a matter of minutes, but he had… something; she just didn't know what.

She thought back to the day she'd realized her feelings for Marco—Ridge Creek High Homecoming. He'd asked Jackie Lynn Thomas to the dance, and she'd boldly asked Oscar, who turned her down.

On the night of the dance, even though the girl he'd been in love with since kindergarten was his date, he'd still cancelled and sat with Star, helping her heal her broken heart. It wasn't just a "rebound", as Ferguson would so eloquently put it. She'd realized there was more to her feelings towards Marco than friendship.

Not that he'd ever felt similarly.

There were only two beings in any dimension who knew how she felt: Pony Head (duh) and, surprisingly, Buff Frog (he didn't mind the name). Both of them kept her secret, knowing her duties came before her own personal wants. Pony Head even stopped calling Marco Turd and Turdina (when Star was around).

None of it mattered to the young princess. She was going to marry Mark, Marco wouldn't be allowed to come to the wedding, and the engagement would be announced at her coronation. After the wedding, Mark would become king of Mewni. Marco would see her for the last time at her coronation, and she'd never tell him the truth.

Wow… Thinking about Marco is really helping you not think about Marco!

Then again, she could always visit, when her queenly duties weren't overwhelming her. Her parents hadn't said anything against it, but her mother would probably forbid it. Star could hear it already.

"You are a queen and you have a husband! Visiting an old friend who happens to be male could cause a scandal!"

Darn it!

Still, she'd miss him. He'd make a good advisor for her, or maybe a member of the Royal Guard.

Maybe if she had a daughter, he'd babysit and give her helpful tips.

They'd spend time together, and her daughter might want to go to Earth.

She'd allow it, of course, once her theoretical daughter turned fourteen.

Marco would keep the daughter safe.

No…

It would hurt Star too much to have Marco so close yet so far away.

The only question was if she'd tell him how she felt…

And that is part two of my Starco series.

Sorry it took so long.

School is a pain, since I have final exams coming up.

Joy.

Anyway, that'll do it!

So long and thanks for all the fish!
