A quick one shot Peyton fanfiction starting at the night she returned home from Savannah.
Home is Where You Are
Peyton walked into her bedroom after her weekend with Jake and dropped her bag haphazardly on her bed, allowing herself to flop down next to it with a sigh.
She didn't want to leave. Jake had given her the option, but she was well aware that he wanted her to leave and figure things out. For the sake of doing what he wanted, she left, but it was the most painful thing she had ever wanted to do.
She knew she had feelings for Lucas, but they were idle. They were the result of an infatuation that she might always have, but never would, and never wanted to act upon. He was like a fantasy that she didn't want to ruin. Jake, on the other hand, was her reality. He was the real love that everyone dreams of finding.
She sat up on her bed, resting her weight on her hands. She was tired, and beat, and all she wanted to do was curl up on the small, single, white sheeted bed with Jake and fall asleep in his warm arms.
She had heard her dad snoring in his bedroom when she walked in, but didn't care to let him know that she was in. If he didn't care enough to wait up for her, then why should she? Instead she picked her bag back up and threw it into a corner of her room, and crawled under the covers of her bed.
She felt so sad.
The next days went by like a bad dream. For some, unbeknownst reason she found herself telling Brooke she had feelings for Lucas. Dumb decision. She knew it before the words left her mouth, but for some reason they did anyways.
At least she didn't lie and say she loved the guy. That really would have caused a blow up, and not just from Brooke.
Then everything just fell apart. Brooke left their friendship behind and forbade Lucas from talking to her. She had to stand there looking 'happy' while two people devoted themselves to each other forever, right after one of them came back from the place she had used to run away from him. It was pathetic, really.
But she knew her feelings on the matter were strictly because of her own love mishaps over the past few days.
She wanted to run back to Jake. More than anything, she wanted to have him back with her. She knew that he would welcome her, and love her so much more than anyone had loved her since she was back.
After the wedding, Brooke came back to Peyton's place and packed up all of her things. Peyton walked in on her and questioned her. With low digs, and various insults, Brooke left, vowing never to be friends with Peyton again. This, for Peyton, was the last straw.
She left a note for her father, and packed a bag, heading for the airport.
She knew she had nothing left for her here, and for the first time, that didn't bother her. All she needed now, and forever, was Jake, and that's exactly what she planned on getting.
