lrr: Goodness, I've been wanting to do this for a long time. But school hates me and won't let me think.
So.. Summer Tales.
Starting with Snape (Marauders are coming up next, if there's any good feedback on this one)
Thank you, Harry Potter Wikki :D
(I'm not JK Rowling. I'm not cool enough e-e)
As per usual I'm highly critical of myself. I'm really horrible at writing. Any healthy constructive criticism is welcome.
…..
Severus knew the instant he got off the train, that he wasn't home any longer. He had dreaded returning to the house on Spinner's End for a long time. It was easy to get lost in the wandering corridors of Hogwarts. It was easy to immerse himself in the dark arts, drowning in wonder at the power he would soon be skilled enough to possess.
His mother greeted him silently by the platform. He strained to peer over the heads of fellow students, searching for Lily. The had gotten separated on the way to the train. He spotted her scowling at James Potter, but Eileen Snape grabbed him by the arm, turned on the spot, and soon the magnificent scarlet train was gone. He shut his eyes against the nausea induced by Side-Along-Apparation.
When the opened again, he was at Spinner's end.
…..
The house at Spinner's End was, like all other buildings on the street, a run down, shack-like building. It was vaguely crooked, as though it was too tired to stand up all the way. Broken street lamps lined the road and an old mill stood in the distance.
"Toby, your son's home," Severus and his mother walked through the front door into the sitting room where Tobias Snape was sitting on a deflated couch, reading the daily news by the light of a single lamp.
Eileen wandered into the kitchen. She stood there for a moment, as if she didn't know what to do, then picked up a dirty rag and began wiping the counter, merely spreading the filth around. Severus's mother was a washed out woman, with sunken in eyes and always looked as if she never slept.
"So, boy," Snape's father threw the paper down, "You've come back, have you?"
Severus said nothing. He clenched his teeth and stared down at his scuffed shoes. He was still in his school robes, still holding on tightly to his trunk, still standing in the entry way. Still wishing desperately that he wasn't here.
Tobias leaned back and tilted a half empty bottle of something toward his mouth, "I see you still don't wash you hair."
Severus remained silent, greasy locks hiding his face. His unkempt hair bothered his father very much. He enjoyed bothering his father.
"Say something!" Severus ducked as the now empty bottle was hurdled toward his face, just brushing the top of his head.
Eileen did nothing. It was hard enough to keep herself standing. She just wanted to pretend it wasn't happening. She didn't have the energy to protect her son from this beast.
A tear ran down her cheek I'm a horrible mother.
Tobias Snape's shouts reverberated through the house.
I'm worse than him.
…...
Lrr: For the record, this is the most angsy thing I've written since the Toby thing D:
The next chapter's won't be like this, I promise. But Snape's life sucks, so fanfictions about him have to be depressing unless they're slash and slash is scary sometimes so blaaaah.
It's late.
Good night.
