Bitter Ashes Prologue
As a street lamp flickered a shadow passed beneath it. The shadow was human, tall and lean. As it slipped below another, stronger light, he was illuminated. From the look of him, he seemed to be about eighteen or nineteen, his dark hair ruffled from him running his hand through it every few moments, dark eyes watching his surroundings. It was sometime near two in the morning, though it didn't seem to bother the boy. As he neared a chinese restaurant he noticed he wasn't alone, a dark figure stood in the shadows. But it was not human, he could tell that from the way it made the darkness look pale in comparison. Just as he was going to ask who, or what, it was that was there, it leapt. He saw the thing leap at him, leaving trails of ash. An ash cloud blew at him, blocking his view and becoming the last thing he ever saw...
