Author's Word:
This is my first Artemis Fowl fanfic and it's just a short sad story about how Butler dies. I'm not really good at this kind of stuff but I'd appreciate if you read this through. I might add a part 2, if I get some reviews but so far, I believe this is a one shot. Sorry if it's a bit short but I'm not going to fill it all with a bunch of witty details that is not needed for such a fanfiction like this. Thanks for reading. Remember to review, you know you want to! Watch out for more fanfictions from penwriter95:P
A Sad Death
Artemis stared at his solemn partner, who was lying down on a hospital bed, his eyes puffy and red. Butler's eyes were beginning to close, his heart slowing and yet he watched Artemis as he held his hand firmly, a single tear dropping down from his face.
"Butler, do not leave, you have been my partner from beginning to end and you have trained me in many ways, saved me many times, don't leave!"
Artemis spoke softly but Butler could tell that there was intense pain in his voice as the tears in Artemis's eyes dropped several times more.
Butler smiled and a teardrop fell from his eyes in a mixture of sadness and happiness.
"Do not grieve for me, Artemis, my time to guard you and watch you has come to an end, this fatal accident, I do not know how it happened but it was meant to be."
Artemis turned away and sobbed.
"No, it is not meant TO BE!" Artemis screamed.
Butler wiped his tears on his sleeve and his heart started beating slower and he was getting weaker by the second. Butler could make out Artemis's blurry figure, he was crying, one thing that Butler had never seen in his life.
"Artemis, do not weep, I am proud that you have grown and have gone this far, I shall always be with you no matter what, I shall always encourage you in your heart." Butler whispered these words, a grin on his face.
Artemis sniffled and looked up into Butler's face.
"Butler, can you promise to meet me again?" Artemis asked, wiping his tears.
Butler nodded solemnly and laughed quietly. Butler's heart had almost stopped but yet he knew he had to go on.
"I shall see you again in a different lifetime, I don't know how and I don't know when but I know that my time here is over."
Artemis could not accept it and he said once more, "Please don't go Butler, don't go…"
But Artemis knew that Butler had no hope, nothing would cure him quick enough to prevent his slow death.
"I am going now, you're fading away…" Butler whispered as his vision faded, "Good bye Artemis, it was good knowing you…"
Then Butler closed his eyes and Artemis screamed in agony. He grasped Butler's hand and grabbed onto it harder. Artemis put his hand onto Butler's face and as he died, a single tear shed from his face and Artemis put his hand under it, collecting it. "Good-bye, Butler."
Artemis's tears ran rapidly and he quickly wiped them away, he rapidly ran out of the ER Room of the hospital, once again whispering under his breath. "Good-bye Butler, you were a good man."
