Disclaimer: Ah well… I don't even own the poem. Just the plot…
A/N: What if Draco didn't leave with Snape at the end of HBP and instead left alone at the end of the seventh book? Just wondering… move along.

He knew he could never have her.
He had watched her from afar for the past years and knew that she would never love him. But he firmly pushed it away, thinking, maybe with time, she will.
How wrong.
But he knew that now, when he saw her kiss that Weasley.
How it hurt, taking apart his heart. How he regretted teasing her, sneering at her, calling her a mudblood… if only she knew what he felt for her.
But he was moving on now.
Tonight's the last I'll cry for you
Tonight my heart can start over new
He lay against his pillows, thinking. Unknowingly, he was crying. But if he was to move on, he shouldn't be crying.
Shouldn't he?
One last time, I'll wipe away a tear
Tomorrow things will all be clear
Unable to sleep, he stood up, wiped away his tears and went down to the Slytherin common room, walking towards one of the chairs and sitting down on it. He was alone.
He decided to write her a letter, to tell her what he felt for her. It was too late, yes. But he thought that she needed to know.
Tonight I'll finally say goodbye
I let you go and now I freely fly
The next day, at the Graduation Ball, he would have someone give it to her wordlessly. Let her be shocked, surprised, astonished, anything. It was his last chance to let her know before he left the world of Hogwarts.
Then he could finally move on.
No more drowning in endless misery
Awake with the memories of you and me

He watched, from the doors of the Great Hall as Blaise approached Hermione and Ron, quickly giving her the letter from him.
Then slowly, he looked away from the one he would always love and left Hogwarts, pulling his hood over to hide his face.
Moving on.
