A/N: Written for both minorpairings' Theo/Hermione challenge and my completely unofficial 7spells challenge with the prompt "look over there." Both challenges can be found on LJ. All characters are JKR's, I merely borrow them from time to time.

"So who is it?"

Blaise leans casually on the breakfast table, cocking an eyebrow at the blush on Theo's face, red like roses in snow. It's so uncommon of him, not that Blaise has been paying enough attention to know for sure; spend two years living in a dorm with someone and you're bound to learn their normal look eventually. Just a fact of life, nothing weird about it – besides, Draco knows worse things about Crabbe and Goyle than how to tell when something's up. No one thinks that's odd, and this is the same thing, so it's perfectly fine. His blush grows redder as Theo lowers his head, taking up a hiding space in his hair.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he mumbles.
"You've got a crush on someone, Theo," Blaise sighs.
"Maybe…"
"I can tell."
"Not that it's any of your business…"
"I'm just curious. Who's the lucky girl, bloke, or thing, assuming that it could be one of the Weasley twins but hoping that you have enough class to-"
"Ew!" Theo looks back at Blaise, scrunching his face in disgust… only an average amount of disgust. Funny… Blaise thought that would get at least two steps up from average. "Thosewhatever they are-s?"
Blaise sighs again; if only his inquisitiveness would let him drop this exasperating subject. "It was a joke, Theo."
"Well, it was a really bad one! As if I'd… as if anyone-"
"Theo! Calm down, honestly."
"…Sorry. It's just… completely disgusting."
"We never speak of it again…"
"Okay-"
"If you tell me who you're so infatuated with."

Theo sighs – he knows what he's gotten himself into – and Blaise smirks with the same knowledge. Then, his finger snaps up and the way is clear. Though she's all the way across the Hall, at the Gryffindor table, it's hard to miss her: a complete mess of dull brown hair, a back-breaking bag of books, and it looks like she's telling the Weasley twins off. He can't hear her of course, but appearances aren't always deceptive, especially not with her. Her. Why her! A Mudblood and a Gryffindor to boot? What in the Hell has gotten into Theo? Even thinking her name threatens to make Blaise vomit.

"Her?" he huffs, indignantly awed.
"Her," Theo sighs. Is he being wistful or resolute? It's too hard to tell. "Hermione Granger."

Blaise can feel his forehead crinkling and his eyes narrowing… he doesn't like either sensation. What does she have to offer that's special enough to make Theo – rational, loner Theo – fall completely over the moon? She's just a boring, book-loving Mudblood Gryffindor… so why in the mind of Merlin does Blaise suddenly consider her competition?
