Robin walked slowly through the dark alley. Although his hearing was exceptionally good, he wasn't sure what exactly was making noise. Batman had asked him to come visit, and Robin decided that tonight would be a good time to drop in. He made his way to the edge of the darkness, when suddenly he stopped dead in his tracks.

"Hello... Robin." Slade said tauntingly from above.

Robin glanced up just in time to see Slade take off to the other end of the roof. Of course it had to be Wayne Tech Enterprises. Ignoring the fact that he was hours away from Jump City, Robin climbed a nearby ladder to the very top. He scanned the area for his enemy, and finally spotted him trying to pry a door open.

"Stop!" Robin yelled as he ran towards Slade. He attempted a roundhouse kick, but Slade pushed his foot back down as if it were a pillow.

"You're going to have to do better than that if you want to hurt me." Slade said, mocking the young hero that was so desperately trying to hit him. "Let alone even touch me."

Robin failed to hit the man. He was just too fast; instantly dodging every punch thrown. Robin gritted his teeth in anger and lunged his left foot towards the villain's face; only to be grabbed and pulled to the ground. He stood back up and tried once more. Slade threw him back on the ground with minimal effort. Deciding enough was enough, Robin jumped up to his feet and ran towards Slade to uppercut him. Slade chuckled darkly while dodging the blow. He simply stepped about a foot to the side; just enough room for Robin to keep going forward. Robin tried to stop himself, but instead tripped straight off the ledge.

The night sky had made it hard to see anything clearly. From a distance, the ledge appeared to be followed by more roofing. Slade waited a moment for Robin to pick himself up and continue fighting. Everything was silent. Slade slowly crept closer until he realized his eye had deceived him.

"Robin!" Slade called out and rushed to the edge.

Slade hoped that the boy had tricked him or had somehow was still on the roof. Nervous to look down, he paused and closed his eye for a few seconds to see if he could hear anything. But to his dismay, it was quieter than normal. Bracing himself, he looked down to see Robin; face up on the ground surrounded by a pool of blood. There were a few bystanders that had crowded by him, some pulling out their phones to call for help. He could also hear a young child crying and screaming at the top of their lungs.

Slade turned around instantly knocked down the door he was trying to open from earlier. He ran straight down all of the fifteen flights of stairs without stopping once to catch his breath. He pushed all types of people, young and old, out of his way without a second thought. A security guard chased him for a few flights, but he was no match for the fast mercenary.

As soon as he was on the first floor, Slade burst through the front door to face the cold winds that he could feel even with his armor on. It wasn't snowing, but it definitely was cold enough too. Slade eased his way through the growing crowd until he was standing directly in front of Robin. He stared at the young, lifeless body.

"Shit." Slade whispered as he slowly bent down on one knee to get a closer look at the fallen hero.

Robin's arms were broken as well as his neck. His mouth was open in the shape of an O, with a trail of drool and blood slowly seeping out of both sides of his mouth. His mask was gently flapping in the wind; almost screaming at the man to tear it. While Slade debated whether or not to do it, suddenly his hand took charge and reached out to peel the rest of the mask off. His crystal blue eyes were still open. They portrayed his very last expression: pure terror.

Slade actually jumped when a young dark haired man tapped on his shoulder. He was probably a reporter or just an annoying bystander. The man held out his hand for a shake, but Slade didn't dare take it.

"Excuse me, do you know what happened here? Some of the people that saw him fall said you were on top of the building with him." The man said as he eyed Slade suspiciously.

Slade didn't want to talk to anybody or take any chances. In a quick moment, Slade had managed to pull out his metal rod and slammed it into the back of the man's legs. He fell to the ground with a thump. Slade grabbed the treasured mask and ran as fast could to disappear into the night. The crowd didn't seem to pay much attention to Slade, however. The only thing that caught their attention was the famous Bruce Wayne walking out of the building.
