Disclaimer: I don't own Prison Break.
Wrote this while watching the ending of the final episode of Prison Break, such a sad day when that show ended. I dedicate this story to my friend Yoshii1214 who got me into Prison Break.
R.I.P Michael
The sun was high in the sky, its warmth filling the air that Alex inhaled and let out in a deep breath as he walked through the dew covered grass. The stones around him marking ones lost in other families, Alex couldn't help but stare at them with pity before stopping at one that he wished didn't exist.
"Hey buddy."
His deep voice was already fighting to stay strong as the emotions began raging inside him, getting down on one knee, Alex ran his hand over the graves hard surface, the words etched into the stone almost too painful to look at as his heart pounded in his ears.
'Here lies Cameron M. Mahone.
April 8th, 1996 – May 16th, 2001'
The only thing Alex could do was run his hand over his face as the tears began to fall, the feelings of defeat and guilt taking over his heart and mind once again, and just like it had the day he returned Colorado to find a crime scene. His ex-wife nowhere in sight and son's body laying in the body bag inside the place that he once called his home.
The cold cuffs on his wrists and being led away as the body bag was brought out on a stretcher which caused him to fight the police holding him until he was forced into a cop car and taken away.
Alex sat in that trance like state again, staring at the grave of his five year old son who had been taken away because of him, because of his crimes, because he failed them. The images of his Pam and Wyatt came, followed by memories of before.
He remembered holding Cameron when he was first born, sitting beside Pam and holding the baby who only cried as he said, "I'm your daddy." He kissed the baby's forehead and held the blanket closer, "I love you and will always be there for you."
"I'm sorry." He muttered with his hand still resting on his face, covering his mouth as the other hand still rubbed the stone. "I was never there for you like I promised… I'm so sorry, Cameron."
His body lightly shook as the wet grass stained his blue jeans; the wind caressing his face as he wiped the tears, feeling a tap on his shoulder, he turned to find a young girl holding a handful of freshly picked flowers. He used his shirt sleeve to wipe his face again and stood up from his kneeled position, coming face to face with Felicia who was wearing a sad smile.
"Is this were big brother is?" The four year old girl asked turning to face Felicia and Alex who both nodded, noticing that the small girl clutched the flowers in her hands with more force before placing them in front of the headstone. "Hi Cameron, I hope you like them." She said with a hint of sadness in her voice as her father's arms wrapped around her.
She laid her head on his shoulder and shut her eyes that caused the small tears she was holding in to fall, there weren't a lot, but enough that they wet Alex's shirt as he held her closer.
"I wish I could have met him."
"I know Julie; I wish you could have too." Felicia said moving the girl's hair that was being blow by the wind that kicked up again and kissed her husband's cheek, hugging them both close to her.
"We better go. We're having lunch with Linc and the others."
"Yea we should go." Alex said still holding Julie; he stroked the headstone one last time before turning to leave with Lang.
"Happy Birthday son."
I don't know what Cameron's last name is sense they never tell us in the show. I wanted to write something like this sense no one seems to write a lot of MahonexLang stories. Please let me know if you want me to write anymore Prison Break stories.
