It was a warm summer day. Birds were chirping. A warm breeze went through air, spreading the sweet smell of blossoming flowers.
There lying in the grass were two 10 year olds, side by side.
One had black shoulder length hair. His dark eyes spook of sadness. He had pale skin. He was wearing well-worn cloths. Very different from the girl that was beside him.
She had shining red hair that was smooth. It went down her back. Her emerald eyes glowed with happiness. Her skin was a healthy glow to it. Her cloths were nice and clean pressed.
Both looked up at the sky that passed above them.
''Hey, Lily?'' The dark haired boy broke the silence.
''Yes, Sev?'' She responded back. Both continued to look up at the sky.
''Can we always be friends? No matter what?'' At that she turned her head and looked at him.
''Severus why wouldn't be friends? I can't think of anything that would change that.'' He turned his head and faced her. She smiled at him. He didn't say anything.
''Besides, Sev, I wouldn't want to be friends with anyone else. You're my best friend and always will be.''
''Promise?'' He asked. She chuckled.
''I promise.'' Lily said with a smile.
With smiles on their faces both turned back to the sky, back to the peaceful silence and the joy of being in each other's company.
I don't own Harry Potter.
