Time
A/N – Hey gang, well it's silly o'clock and I can't sleep due to a kidney infection so I decided to write something to try take my mind off the pain. This is the result of that and my iTunes on random! The song that this fic is based on is She Didn't Have Time by Terri Clark; check it out if you can! Erm, same old same old really, the song, the show and the characters aren't mine, these are just someone else's toys, I'm just borrowing them! Enjoy!
Merlin stood on the edge of the porch watching as Lancelot walked away with a single 'goodbye' and the pitiful explanation of 'you're better off without me, I'm not what you need.' Echoing what his own mother had been saying for years but he had been determined to prove everyone wrong because he never thought that Lance, someone he had been with for over five years, had a child with would ever just climb into his car and leave without so much as a look back, even a stranger would have shown more compassion than that. Merlin stood there for a minuet before turning around and heading back into their – no, his house, he could have cried then but he just didn't have the time, he had a baby to feed and a pink blanket to find so he could rock their baby to sleep, he could have laid in bed for hours giving power over to misery but he just didn't have the time.
Years went by, he got a sitter and he got a job because he has a promise to keep. His day was spent at the office, writing up the next article, looking for the next story, his nights were about surviving and his nights were being exhausting and sleeping. At times when he thought about it he thought life was passing him by when he looked at what his friends where doing, the same friends that told him that he needed to get out of the house, Gwaine had told him over and over that it was the only way he was going to met someone new. He could have tried but he didn't have the time, he had his five year old to feed, get her to ballet and piano lessons and finished in time for her t – ball little league. He could have lain awake for hours, let the lonely nights have the power but he just didn't have the time.
He didn't have the time to find the time to trust a man again, he didn't have time for that flat tire in that crowed parking lot but he didn't not have the time to have coffee with the guy that got his tire fixed. He was thinking 'gosh he is handsome' as he looked into his sky blue eyes that where partly covered with golden hair falling into them, his beautiful smile that lit up his face and his laugh that lit up the whole room. He was smiling at Arthur, as the guy had introduced himself as when the blond asked.
"Do you have kids?" He could have lied but he didn't have the time, all he said was,
"She's five." Arthur smiled and said,
"I saw the car seat, I love kids, and does she have your eyes?" Merlin smiled for what felt like the first time in years. They sat and talked for hours, letting destiny have the power. Merlin could have been afraid to fall in love that night but he didn't have the time.
Well? What did y'all think? Let me know.
