I love it when it rains. Because it reminds me of you.

Do you remember that rainy day?

That memory is a mixture of pain and gladness in my heart.

It is raining today and I am thinking of you.

Wondering if you remember that one rainy day too.

But how can you?

When I've already erased your memory of that day.

"Lelouch, do you love the rain?"

I looked at you wondering why you'd asked such a question like that.

"'Cause I noticed that you've been staring at the window for about an hour now with a sad smile on your face," you said hesitatingly.

Am I? I wonder why you're the only one who noticed my sad smile.

"I love the rain," you continue saying. "It reminds me of someone," you said smiling.

I was taken a back because of what you've said. Remind you of someone? Who the hell can that be? Are you seeing some guy I do not know?!? ... controlled breathing Wait a minute… Am I getting jealous here?!?!

You laughed. A pleasant sound. A soothing sound. Just hearing it makes me believe in heaven and angels. But then you are an angel, so maybe you brought a piece of heaven here to our hell. Your laughed made me wonder if I have spoken my last thought aloud.

"It's crazy really; Lelouch-kun, but I don't really know who that person is."

I slightly raised my eyebrows at you. What are you talking about? Do you mean to say that you remember me…?

"Crazy, aren't I? Remembering someone I don't know."

"No," I quickly assured you. I don't know what got to me but when you looked at me with those angel eyes, I just found myself saying, "The rain reminds me of someone too."

"Really? Who?... Uhm… Let me guess,… Does it remind you of the friend that you were talking about that day where we first met? The one you said you lost."

I winced slightly at your words. First, met? Yes, for you it was like meeting me again for the first time. For me, it was like… I still couldn't put it into words.

"Am I being nosy, Lelouch-kun?" you said frowning.

"No, you're not being nosy. And yes, you're right. … The rain reminds me of that person."

"You shouldn't be sad then." I looked at you, puzzled.

"The rain reminds you of your friend, right? I'm pretty sure it reminds your friend to of you."

"How can you say that?"

"Because even though you were smiling sadly as you watched the rain pour down, the fact still remains that you are smiling. Meaning, there must be something about you, your friend and the rain that makes you smile. It was a happy memory. A bittersweet memory in your case, Lelouch-kun because your friend isn't here anymore."

I gaped at you. How can you say such things? You're still here, right? Even though you can't remember me, you're still here, right?

"Oh, I didn't mean to offend you Lelouch-kun." You apologized.

"But you know what; you and your friend will always be connected as long as it rains. Just like me and the person that the rain reminds me of," you finished smiling.

Connected, huh? I'll hold you to that, Shirley.

"Oi, Shirley! Hurry up, next class is cooking. We need to hurry or we'll wash the kitchen utensils," called one of our classmates.

You hurriedly stood up, clumsily fix your hair and uniform before calling out, "I'm coming."

You looked back at me and smiled.

"See you later, Lelouch-kun."

And you hurriedly walked towards the door, pausing briefly to wave me goodbye before disappearing completely out of my view. I sighed, smiled then looked at the misting window.

"I love the rain because it reminds me of you, Shirley."

I whispered softly, sadly.
