Forever
Numb. Nothing else. Numb and piercing sadness. He had watched his fellow classmates fight side-by-side, some dying. As he walked into the Hospital Wing, he didn't know what the point of getting healed, for he knew several students wouldn't have the same privilege as him. His eyes scanned the room and landed on one particular bed. He raced to the bedside and collapsed into the chair, grabbing the hand of a brunette looking brutally beaten. Her face was scratched while her arm and leg were casted, clearly broken, while she lay unconscious.
"Lavender..." Seamus whispered. Her eyes fluttered and opened.
"Seamus..." she replied hoarsely. "Seamus you're okay."
"Shh," he hushed. He reached up and stroked her hair. "You'll be okay."
"Seamus... I love you." Seamus's breathe caught as he looked at her with happiness, love, and sadness.
"I love you too Lavender."
"Mr. Finnigan!" Madam Pomfrey came bustling over "You must leave the Hospital Wing immediately! Your family is waiting for you!" Seamus looked up at her, and her face softened immediately. "Very well, make it quick." she added briskly and walked away. Seamus turned back to Lavender.
"Don't worry Seamus. I'll be yours soon. I wouldn't leave you," she said softly.
"Lavender..." He leaned over and kissed her gently on the lips. When he pulled away, she smiled at him faintly before gently drifting off into unconsciousness.
Seamus leaned in the doorway watching Lavender tell a story to their youngest child. He always had hope that she would live, even when the Healers had told him she might not make it. But there she was, perfectly healthy. His. Like she told him. Forever his. She kissed their daughter on the forehead and walked over to Seamus.
"I love you," she told him, taking his hands and leading them back to their bedroom. She turned to him when they go to their bed, Seamus lightly closing the door behind them. He walked over to her and replied, "I love you more." He placed his arms around her hip, pulling her close to him. "Forever." she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck. They started kissing, falling back on the bed as they went. The past was behind them. All that matter was that they were together. Forever.
