Sighing as she hit the print button, Kate found herself leaning back in the admittedly comfortable leather chair that Castle insisted on purchasing for his office. Something about how much time she was spending writing up reports and such at the loft? Admittedly, she hadn't seen the need for it at the time but after a few weeks of typing she had to admit that it made the tedious form filling a little more enjoyable.
Not that she'd ever tell him that of course.
Waiting for the printer to finish spitting out the last page, Beckett gathered up the stack of papers and reached over to where her stapler normally was… only to find her fingers grasping at empty air. Huh. "Babe, where'd you put the stapler?" she called out even as her eyes scanned the surface of the desk for an answer.
Honestly, there were times she hated how Castle touched everything of hers and she found herself mildly irritated as she opened the top drawer of the desk in hopes that she would find the ever elusive item and end the great stapler hunt. Instead, what she found at the very bottom of the drawer had her pause, her irritation dissipating and replacing itself with a small smile.
"Sorry, what were you asking Kate?"
Startled, she glanced up to see Castle standing in the doorway, wiping his hands on the rather ridiculously frilly apron he was wearing. Forgoing answering verbally, she chose instead to hold up the sheaf of paper that she had found.
It took Castle a brief moment, but she was rewarded with a sheepish grin from her husband. "Oh, yeah. That." he quipped as he closed the gap between them, shifting to lean against the back of the chair as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "What about it?"
"You didn't throw it out?" she asked as she settled further into the chair, as she touched her head against his.
"No, why would I?"
"Well, as I seemed to recall you accomplished most of these goals when you thought you were being cursed by a video."
"It was completely valid, Beckett. People DIED."
Grinning, she turned to plant a kiss on Castle's cheek. "Well, what do you think of writing a new bucket list? Or combining ours at least, mine is getting awfully short."
"Oh, well, Mrs Castle, I'd be only happy to oblige."
Grinning, she opened up a new document and began to type. "Ok, so I'm assuming skydiving is still on there… oh, I'd love to visit Australia one day…"
"Scuba diving with you… oh! Ghost Hunting Beckett, I wanna go Ghost Hunting."
Quirking a brow, Beckett found herself adding it to their bucket list even as she rolled her eyes. "Alright, alright… how about hiking up Mount Kilimanjaro? Might have to prioritize that one before you get too old though." she teased, bumping her shoulder against his chest as she continued to type.
"I may be old, but I'm not that old." he complained, propping his head up on top of Beckett's head. "Oh! I know, renew our vows in space."
This time, Beckett found herself unable to stop herself. "Seriously? That again?" she asked, shaking her head as she turned to look at him.
"What? It's our join bucket list and I say we renew our vows in space."
"What is it with you and space anyways?"
"…It's space. The final frontier and everything!"
"Castle, we are not renewing our vows in space." she said, the firmness of her tone slightly mollified by the grin that creeping onto her face.
"I bet I could change your mind." Castle offered, his fingers drifting down towards her waist, lightly tracing patterns there.
"I don't know Castle," she teased, pretending to think about it. "It sounds like I'll need an awful lot of persuading."
"Well, I better get started then."
