The Bad Thing About Girls

Wally's POV

Girls are always on my mind. As of late, my girlfriend, Artemis has been on my mind a lot. But after this last date gone bad, I've realized something, something about all girls, not just Artemis. About Robin's ex-girlfriend Zatanna, Conner's girlfriend Megan. All of them. They all want something we can't give them. They want a storybook romance. Even the ones like Artemis, who don't read that girly crap, they have an idea of the perfect relationship, and expect their boyfriend to give them that perfect relationship.

Like tonight, I took Artemis to dinner, a real nice place I've been saving up for, gave her a rose, and kissed her before either of us said anything. Because, well, her lips are extremely inviting. Then when it all was done I tried telling her I loved her, but I stumbled, I said something wrong, and she stormed into her house crying, saying she never wanted to see me again. Which sucks, with the with the whole "being on the same team" thing.

All I was trying to do was say I love her, that she is my everything, that I would do anything for her. I would take the bullet, I would push out of the path of the speeding van, I would die to save her. Because I love her like crazy. And it's not that stupid "I would die without you" overly used stuff. It's real. This isn't a book, or a movie. This is life, and I love Artemis more than anything.

But I screwed up.

I walked into my room in the cave, only to see Artemis standing over my desk, looking at one of my papers. I silently prayed it was one of my science theory papers, and not something important. I put a hand on Artemis's shoulder, "Artemis, what are you doing?"

She turned around, her eyes starting to well up, "Do you really feel this way?"

"Oh, Artemis, I'm so sorry," I said, pulling her in a hug.

"What for?" she asked.

I pulled back, and looked her in the eye, slightly confused. "For making you cry," I wiped at a tear on her cheek.

Suddenly, Artemis pulled me down, so our lips met. My eyes widened in shock, but then closed as I put my hands on her hips and pulled her closer to my body. I caught a quick glimpse at the title of the paper she was reading. "The Bad Thing About Girls"

Oh.

Nailed it!
