Hermione shifted her position to glance at her watch: 1.00 am. Great, she thought. She had now been lying in bed awake for three hours; ever since she and Harry went to Godric's Hollow she had either spent all night wide awake staring at the ceiling of the tent or had had terrible nightmares. She looked across the tent and saw Ron. She turned and watched him for a while, although she had not shown it that day. the day when Ron had come back to her had been the happiest of her life. She suddenly had hope again, like there could be a happy ending to this terrible war.

She continued to watch him and think about what they had been through together and what they still had to go. Suddenly he stirred.
'Ron' she whispered 'Are you awake?'
'Yeah' he replied in a hushed tone 'can't sleep, I'm bloody freezing'
'Me too, I've been awake for hours'

He quietly got down from his bunk bed and walked into the middle of the tent where there was a sofa and two armchairs around a fireplace. He lit a fire and turned to her: 'Would you care to join me for a midnight cup of tea?'
She smiled at him 'I'd love to' she slipped out of her bed and walked over to the sofa where she sat down. He joined her, bringing a blanket which he placed over them.

Once the kettle had boiled Ron got up and made two cups of tea. They then sat back down with their tea and Ron put his arm around Hermione as she snuggled down onto his chest. She breathed him in, he smelt like wood and mud but mostly he smelt like home and safety. He was comfortable and she was comfortable with him. He began to softly stoke her arm. They finished their tea but stayed there realising that being together was much more pleasurable than lying in bed separately.

Hermione had moved her arms around Ron so that she was now hugging his chest and resting her head on his shoulder and he began to talk.

'When I left you and Harry, I would spend every night just thinking of you and how I let you down. I would think about what you and Harry were doing, hoping that you were safe and happy. I tried to think back to when we were at Hogwarts. Do you remember the Yule Ball?' She nodded 'You looked beautiful that night. I was so angry that Krum had asked you to it, I was such a prat. Really I was just jealous and upset. Jealous that he was the one dancing with you instead of me and upset that at the end of the night he would be the one kissing you goodnight and not me.'

She raised her head and looked into his eyes. Then lifted her hand and placed it on the side of his face. She whispered, 'So was I' and then she kissed him. Their lips touched softly, a simple act that made Hermione the happiest woman in the world.

That night she slept with her head resting on Ron's shoulder and for the first time in weeks she drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

Hope you enjoyed it. I really like the Ron and Hermione story line. Please review
