Fiona walked into her art class, the last period of the day. She was worried about this class all day. How was she going to explain what happened to Adam? She decided that honesty was the best policy. She saw Adam in his seat looking down at his sketch book. She slowly made her way to her seat, and sat down.
"Hey, Adam." she greeted. He just continued to sketch. "How was your weekend?" still nothing. "Say something." Adam sighed.
"Hi, my weekend could have started better." He answered, without looking at her.
"Listen, I can explain why I didn't come to the party." Adam finally looked up, and was ready to listen. But then the bell rang as Fiona was about to speak. "I'll tell you after school on the front steps."
At the end of school Adam and Fiona were sitting on the front steps. Fiona was the first one to break the silence.
"You know how I told about the New York royalty?" Fiona asked.
"Yeah." Adam answered not looking at Fiona at all.
"Remember how I described him?"
"Charming on the outside, vile on the inside."
"Yeah well that royalty hit me multiple times." Adam tensed at the words and looked at Fiona with concern. "Before he did that he was kind. I was allowed to design the new school uniforms, he helped me get them approved, and he made me feel special. So when you started to do all these nice things for me I got a flash back and I never want it to happen again."
"Fiona, if you don't mind me asking, why did he do all these great things, and then hurt you?"
"He wanted to do things that I didn't and I guess it made him mad."
"Like sex?"
"Probably, but don't worry he never came close."
"Did you think I was just trying to get you to have sex with me?
"Yeah, and when I though of how you yelled at me it reminded me of Bobby and I was afraid that you would get angry and hurt me."
"Fiona, when I first saw you I liked you right away, but I wanted Drew to have you because I thought you would be into physical stuff, and to tell you the truth I'm not. So I let Drew have you, but of coarse after I helped him you said you didn't want anything physical, and it made me mad that I could have had a shot with you, but gave it up. That's why I got mad. Sorry."
"I didn't know that. It's okay."
A few moments of silence came and then Adam broke it.
"So where does are relationship stand? I'm just curious."
"How about we go on a date and find out. I owe you for the party I didn't come to."
"Awesome, so..."
"Friday."
"Cool, Friday I'll see you then."
"Great."
Fiona called a cab and left. Adam went home with his mom later that day.
