The Phenomenal Spider-Man

Chapter 1: My Love, My Life, My Death

Peter sat in front of the large window in his messy room. He couldn't stop thinking about the night Gwen died. The night his best friend betrayed him. He became far more aggressive, not just to criminals, but also to his friends and family. The only person that has been somewhat close to even getting him to smile is MJ. She reminds him so much of Gwen. Too much. That was the only reason he hung around her so often now.

Peter began to look back on the memories of him and his former angel. He looked up to the sky as tears began to fill his eyes. "I miss you…" He mumbled while fighting back the tears. Even though months had passed, the pain of her death was still too much to bear. He could do nothing now but cry.

The tears then poured down his face as he whispered "Gwen…" His phone began to ring. It was MJ. He cleared his throat and answered his phone. "Hey…" He mumbled trying to hide the fact that he had been crying. "Hey Pete! Listen um… would you like to go see a movie with me tonight?" She asked in an excited yet worried voice.

He thought about what Gwen would want him to do. She would want him to move on, but it felt wrong to do things with another girl, like he was cheating. "Um… Sure. What time?" He asked. "Sunshine Cinema at 9:30!" She shouted in voice filled with pure happiness.

It was clear to Peter the MJ liked him. She was a great girl and all but he was nowhere near over Gwen. "Ok. I'll see you then. But I'm kind of busy at the moment with my aunt, so I'll call you in about an hour or two ok?" He asked just trying to find a way to hang up before he bursts into tears again. "Ok! Thank you Pete… I love-" He had already hung up before she could finish her sentence.

Once again tears poured down his face. 'I need to go for a swing' he thought to himself. He went to his closet and got out his Spidey suit. He stared into the lenses of his mask for what seemed like an eternity. 'You failed Parker. YOU failed' He thought to himself trying to hold back anymore tears. He put on his suit and jumped out of his window.

-20 minutes later-

As Peter swung he could've sworn that he overheard some lady ranting on about a new "Spider-Woman". He ignored his thoughts and continued on swinging throughout the city. He then heard rapid gun fire coming from a nearby gas station. He sighs and says to himself "Responsibilities…" He shot a web line towards the nearest building.

Something caught his eye as he landed on the roof of the building. It looked like someone swinging on web. 'There's no way…' He thought as he saw a woman dressed in a white, black, and pinkish hooded costume swing by and go towards the gas station. She then began taking out thugs left and right. One after another, they were all dropping like flies. He was amazed by her incredible skills. One thug remained, the new Spider-Woman quickly dealt with him using a spinning roundhouse kick.

'Wow, she's…spectacular…' Peter thought to himself. He knew he had to meet her. As she shot a web and began to swing away, Peter quickly followed. It seemed as if every time he got closer, she tried to get away by swinging faster.

"Challenge accepted." Peter said with a slight grin under his mask. He landed on the nearest roof and shot two web lines preparing for a web zip. "1…2…3!" He shot towards the Spider-Woman at the speed of light, tackling her in the process.

"You idiot what the hell was that for?!" The woman screamed out in anger. Peter let out a little chuckle and said "Just trying to catch a rather phenomenal lady! You did pretty well back there.". "Thanks… But you didn't have to tackle me like that bug boy."

As the last couple words left her mouth, memories of Gwen flooded his mind, as that was her nickname for him. Peter then fell silent. "Something wrong?" the heroine asked with a look of concern under her mask. "It's just… I lost someone very important to me a while back… She called me bug boy all the time." Peter said with a more depressed tone.

"I'm sorry Pete…" She whispered to him. But something caught his attention, did she just call him Pete? "How do you know that name…" He let out in scared tone.

The new hero just stared at him, remaining silent. "I'm sorry." She quietly said as she shot a web line to nearest rooftop quickly trying to flee.

"Wait!" Peter shouted at the vigilante. 'I have to find her…" He then began his chase after her.

He swung after her as fast as he could. He was losing sight of her every few seconds, it was like she knew the city by heart. 'Damn she's fast.' He thought to himself.

He chased her for about half an hour, she managed to lose him after swinging past Oscorp. Peter stared at the ground in defeat, but he knew he would eventually run into her again. All he had to do was wait until the next night...
