Matthias hadn't quite understood what first compelled him to look into Lukas' eyes.
They were, to put it simply, cold.
Dull.
Unreadable.
Empty.
Everyone thought he had a screw loose, looking into those eyes.
Not as if they didn't think that before, Matthias was known to be boisterous, loud, even manic in his movements and being. Quite the polar opposite of Lukas, in fact.
However...
He didn't mind the stares, whispers, as he continued to gaze, take peeks into Lukas' eyes. They seemed as vast and endless as the ocean, a midnight sky, and to Matthias, they held more meaning than he could ever find in his entire life.
Lukas' eyes seemed dull and empty, like a black hole, a mystery, pulling Matthias in, slowly, day by day. Everyone else found them unnerving.
Matthias agreed with them, however...
To him, they, in all their dullness, were clearer than a melody. They could pierce souls.
He continued to be drawn to those cold indigo eyes. They contained hints of purple, or green, at times. It was as if his eyes captured the northern lights, captured magic in its purest form.
Even Lukas himself didn't know what Matthias saw in his eyes. He found them dull, uninteresting, cold, preferring instead to describe them as such. Those descriptions weren't far fetched, seeing as the man himself didn't display much emotion. Never quite opening up. Always maintaining a stoic expression.
But Matthias thought that was what made them interesting.
And no one else knew why Matthias was drawn to those eyes, mysterious as Lukas himself, dull, empty, so cold they burned.
Maybe that was the reason why. Lukas' eyes may have been cold, but inside the vast space, they hid a strong will and burning passion. And Matthias hoped to one day experience in person.
They, in all their emptiness, held an internal flame.
