Harry was shocked. He was a wizard, how could that be, he was a freak. He didn't deserve to be something so great as a wizard.

The friendly giant man was telling him that he is going to go to a school for magic. It is called Hogwarts and is 7 years long of boarding school. That means that he does not have to stay with the dursleys during school for seven years, this excited him.

The man named Hagrid said they have to go to this magical place called Diagon Alley. This is where he will buy all his equpiment for Hogwarts.

They were walking down a normal street in central London when Hagrid veered of in the direction of a dingy old pub.

They went inside the pub and Harry was expecting the pub to be derelict, however the inside was in fact more like a bistro except with more magic.

Harry was then shocked again because he found out he was seemingly famous. Hagrid told him it was because he had survived an attack by a dark wizard, the one that he had found out that day had mudered his parents.

Hagrid quickly shuffled Harry out of the back door. They were in a tiny outdoor area with a brick wall only about 3 feet from the back door. Hagrid pulled out his umbrella, which seemed to be able to do magic, and tapped on a few of the bricks on the wall.

Harry stepped back in surprise as an arch appeared in the wall revealing the most wonderous street Harry had ever seen before.

The first thing that caught Harry's eye was this large marble building with beautiful white columns spanning the sides of the arched door.

The marble building was called Gringotts, according to Hagrid, and is the wizarding bank. This was the first place they were stopping on their shopping trip. Harry needed to withdraw some of the money which his parents had left him in order to payfor his school things.

They walked through the bustling street past all the intriguing shops selling everything from brooms, for flying, to wolfbane, for potions. Harry could not wait to go through the shops and see what magical artifices he could get his hands on.

They entered Gringotts and Harry was once again shocked. There were these strange creatures walking around and apparently working in the bank. Hagrid said they were called Goblins and Harry thought they looked shrewd and unfeie unfriendly.

Finally, they reached the goblin Hagrid wanted to talk to and they made their way down to Harry's vault. The door to the vault seemed very mysterious but perhaps that was just a consequnce of its size. Harry had to walk into his vault alone due to protection measures for the vault. He found not only the gold he was told to expect but also a portrait of two people who looked like they were in their thirties. Harry jumped at what happened next. The portrait talked!
