"Open mine next Mommy," Cela handed her mother a present.
"Thank you sweetie," Rey said as she took the gift and unwrapped the parcel.
"I made it myself!" Cela proclaimed proudly as Rey gently lifted the orange and white pilot doll out of the box.
"It's wonderful!" Rey gushed, planting a kiss on her daughter's head. She knew Cela received help making the doll, most likely from one of her teachers, but adored it nonetheless.
Now that her gift had been given, Cela wandered back to her father and flopped down on his lap. Picking up a rectangular box resting on his left, Ben reached over Cela's head and presented the gift to his wife.
"Happy birthday Rey," he said, a look of anticipation in his eyes.
Wonder what in the galaxy this is, Rey thought as she gently opened the latch. The box was wide- about a foot and a half in length- and whatever was inside weighed enough.
As she opened the box, the light from above caught on a glint of silver metal.
"A lightsaber?" Rey gasped.
Ben grinned. "Poe picked up a kyber crystal after one of his missions," he explained. "I built the saber myself,"
Checking to make sure Cela was nestled safely in Ben's arms, Rey powered the saber on. With a flash, the blade ignited in a light-green glow.
"I've never seen a lightsaber with this soft a hue before," she commented, turning it from side to side. Even the hum was softer in tone.
"Me neither," Ben agreed. "I told Poe to find a green one if possible, and this was the only one they had,"
Rey powered the lightsaber off, making a mental note to thank Poe next time she saw him. "I love it," Rey said, kneeling down in front of her family. "But I love you two even more," She wrapped Ben and Cela in a hug. "Thank you both for a wonderful birthday,"
