"Hey, I made breakfast." Jimmy said as he laid a plate of scrambled egg, pancake, a few berries on the table.

"I can't Jimmy." Chloe said as she grabbed her bag off the couch. "Too busy with the foundation today."

"Yeah, okay." Jimmy shrugged. "See you.." She was out the door. "Later."

A few minutes later.

Chloe was about to drive into the Isis garage when she called Oliver. "Hey, Oliver. I'm going to be a few minutes late. You can start without me."

"Sure thing Chloe,"

She checked her calender on her dashboard. One year had passed since that fateful day.

Half an hour later she arrived at the outskirts of Metropolis. She entered a bouquet and bought a long stemmed rose. She walked a couple of blocks to a side street, into another unnamed street to a small plot. There stood a white headstone with long stemmed roses withering into blackness.

Kneeling, she placed the rose again. "Hey, it's me again. Ummm, I should know what to say by now, you know I can rattle off a mile a minute.. wait that's my cuz... har har." Chloe smiled, tried to laugh and couldn't keep it up. "I just want to say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't believe in you more. I should have been there. I should have realized that it wasn't your fault. I should have realized that you were trying to protect me from yourself. I should have taken a stand against them. But loyalty got in the way. And what good has that done. I'm with a guy who tries but can't make amends, my best friend hates me and now I lost you. I should have tried. It's no excuse."

She paused and glanced at the headstone. She traced her finger over the indentation of his name.

"I should have been less afraid."

She paused. The voice was male, low and sweet. She waited for him to continue,

"I should have trusted more. I should have come to you when I needed you the most but I thought it was best to stay away."

"I could have helped you." Chloe replied, not looking back.

She felt a firm but loving hand on her shoulder. "If I did stay I would be taking you away from your own life."

She turned and found herself facing his chest. He was wearing a black silk shirt and black pants. He wrapped his arms around her as she grabbed a hold of his shirt and leant into him.

"There is no life without you Davis."
