He hated ties.

Constricting collars they were, for the umpteenth time, he had to loosen the damn thing. Of course sometimes in his line of work a tie was called for. Didn't mean he didn't hate them just as much. With a growl he readjusted the black tie and walked into the front doors of the hotel. The main lobby was littered with bodies of reporters wanting to catch a glimpse of the pop star that was hiding somewhere in this hotel. The press conference wasn't for another 2 hours but that didn't stop the nosey bodies from gathering already. Many around him were adjusting their cameras, readying their mikes, adjusting their suits, or primping their hair. He snorted to himself as he made his way through the crowd. That was another thing to add to the list of things he hated along with the ties. Reporters. Always sticking their nose where it didn't belong. Or his favorite; making up stories about things that didn't exist.

Of course that's why he was here in the first place. Stupid reporters, stupid ties, stupid jobs. Thank goodness for friends and favors. Although he hated pop stars, security was something he was very very good at. Once in a while he was lucky and some idiot allowed him to let off some steam. Cracking his knuckles Inuyasha grinned wickedly at that fond memory. Yes sometimes there were lots and lots of idiots. So when the press did what they do best, and the previous diva he was guarding went along with it, Inuyasha found himself quickly looking for a new job. Thankfully one of his few and close friends owed him a favor and quickly got him a job. Sadly protecting another pop star.

Quickly finding the correct room number he knocked a few quick raps before it was thrown open. Before him a woman stood dressed in a tight black pencil skirt and white button up shirt with a black vest. Her hair was pulled into a high tight pony tail. She gave him a bright smile in which he returned.

"Inuyasha you made it!" She moved from the door to let him in and once she closed it behind him she hugged him.

"Thanks for hiring me Sango."

"Don't thank me, you called at the perfect time. With her tour starting up we needed more hands and there's only a few people i trust." He grinned and she patted his shoulder, "Come on ill introduce you to the team." He followed her down the hall of the hotel suite to where a few people talked on their phones, others watched the news, and a few typed on a laptop. "You know Shippo, he's our media coordinator, he handles the press meetings and articles released. If someone prints a bad article he's on it. Of course you know Miroku, besides me he'll be your boss. The ones on their laptops are the label and producers, you'll see them here or there and its no offense to them but you wont need to know their names. With your sense of smell I'm sure you'll catalog that in your brain." He flipped her off and she laughed. Tucking his hands into his pockets he rocked on his heels and then back down.

"You haven't changed much Sango."

"Her change? This is Sango were talking about." Inuyasha smiled and high fived the man who walked into the room next. He was dressed rather sharply in black dress pants, and a white button up, his tie was loose around his neck. The top few buttons were undone revealing a white under shirt.

"Yo Miroku!" Both men high fived as Sango stood next to them, hand to her temple shaking her head.

"I swear yall haven't changed since high school."

"Why should we change?" Miroku asked as he threw an arm around Inuyasha's shoulders. Both men's faces mirrored each other in a childish grin, eyes closed and holding up a peace sign. Sango couldn't help but smile.

"You shouldn't." She laughed. A knock on the door had them turning as it opened. A red head popped in.

"Five Min- Oh hey Inuyasha!" Inuyasha blinked before it finally dawned on him.

"Shippo! Holy shit look how much you've grown." Said boy gave Inuyasha a deadpan look.

"No really? I'm 22 years old now Inuyasha. Not a bratty kid anymore. Any how, Sango yall have five minutes." With that said the door shut and the room became alive. Sango quickly put her blackberry to her ear as she signaled the team to move. Inuyasha knew this routine as he stepped back and let them do their work. Miroku appeared in front of him passing him his ID card and ear piece along with a hip holster and gun. Inuyasha pulled it from the lock and checked the barrel and safety. With a quick nod he put it back in its carrier.

"Your ear piece is connected with me, Sango and the whole security team, you can switch to another channel by the dial that'll be on the small of your back. Click on the button on your ear piece to switch it as well. This ear piece is tuned specific for your sensitive demon hearing." Inuyasha nodded. Laptops around him begin to shut and he could hear brief cases zip up. It wasn't that different from his previous job, but yet it had a different feel to it.

"Who is it I'm protecting anyway?" Miroku blinked up at him a few times.

"Wait... you mean no one briefed you?" He blinked a few more times.

"Would i be asking if anyone did?" He snarled, his eyebrow twitching in annoyance. Sango came beside them, pocketing her blackberry.

"We don't have time. Just stick by Miroku for this press meet and afterwards you can meet her and we'll do the briefing then." Both men nodded, Sango turned to the rest of the room, "Lets roll everyone, yellow canary is ready." Both men followed Sango as they exited the hotel room and made their way to the back, away from the crowd up front to two steel double doors in the back. As soon as they reached it two men on the security team opened them. The bright sunlight blinded the three momentarily as they stepped out side but once their eyes adjusted a black car pulled in front of them. Judging by the smile on Sango's face this was his watch. Miroku stepped forward and opened the door. What stepped out next had Inuyasha trying to catch his breath.

She was gorgeous, if that even covered it. Her hair was long and curled perfectly. Her dark wash jeans fit her legs perfectly, a tight white t-shirt to match with a black leather jacket and red high heel pumps. Her eyes covered in black and red Ray-Ban sunglasses.

"Hey Miroku!" Came her cheery voice and her smile made his heart skip a beat. What the hell.

"Long time no see Kagome." They moved at a brisk pace as they re entered the hotel.

"We don't have much time to talk." Sango advised as the headed down the hall. Blue, her eyes are blue. Inuyasha noticed as she moved her sunglasses on top of her head. "Kagome this is Inuyasha, he's on your personal service. Its his first day so go easy on the guy." Kagome laughed and reached around Sango with her hand.

"Nice to meet you! And don't listen to her! I'm not that much trouble!" He shook her hand and smiled.

"Nice to meet you too."

"Not to much trouble!?" Sango piped, stopping for a moment to stare at the girl, her hands on her hips. "The last guy quit because of you!"

"That was NOT my fault! He couldn't handle the crowd"

"The crowd!? You PURPOSFULLY ditched the guy!" Kagome pouted and Inuyasha had this feeling that she got away with a lot of stuff with that pout.

"He didn't know how to have fun!" And with that she crossed her arms and looked away. Sango gaped at her for a moment before shaking her head and continuing onto the meeting. They stood behind the closed doors Inuyasha had come through earlier. He knew behind those doors stood a swarm of cameras and reporters. The ears on the top of his head twitched with anticipation and he messed with his tie again. "You don't have to wear that you know."

He blinked and turned his gaze to stare at Kagome. A lady stood in front of her going over her makeup but her blue eyes were turned to him, laughter danced in them. "Huh?" he blinked. She chuckled.

"The tie. You don't have to wear it. They're constricting and useless." And with that being said she smiled.

"Okay and we're on!" The doors to the press opened before Inuyasha could respond and flashing lights blinded them momentarily. He followed behind Sango, Kagome in between him and Miroku. He knew this routine. Kagome would take a seat at the long table in front of the crowd of reporters, answer questions for a hour or two and then leave. They'd ask about her upcoming album, tour, or whatever they could come up with to ask. They'd think of anything from her favorite color to what happened when she was five years old. No stone would be left unturned and they wouldn't stop bugging until they got an answer.

Sango took a seat beside Kagome as Inuyasha and Miroku stood behind her. Crossing his arms he steeled himself from the flashing lights and scanned he room for anything out of the ordinary.

"Kagome will start taking questions now." Sango spoke with an brisk voice, The crowd erupted in a wave of hands and hand held recorders. With a steady finger she pointed to a reporter who stood.

"Kagome, are you excited about your upcoming tour?" Inuyasha snorted, a million questions he could have asked and that's one he picked? Kagome grinned and wiggled in her seat, scooting closer to the edge of it like an excited child.

"I don't think excited covers what I'm feelin! I'm really really really really excited! We've worked hard on this album and combination of songs. Each song has its own meaning and importance to me in its own way and i cant wait to see my fans dance to it."

"Next question." Sango pointed again and another reporter stood.

"How do you balance your music with all your other obligations?"

"I don't really have any other obligations. Music has been my life, my best friend is my manager and personal assistant. And my other best friend is head of security detail. Were always together. I graduated school early and take online college classes on the road. No boyfriend, no tie downs. I'm all for the music." She smiled wide and gave the peace sign ending that question as Sango moved her finger to choose another. It stopped on another man who stood and held out his hand held recorder.

"Couldn't help but notice the new addition to your security team." Inuyasha raised an eyebrow, "The great Inuyasha Takahashi graces his presents with upcoming pop star Kagome Higurashi. Is there a love affair brewing as there was with rising sensation Kikyo Hitomi?"

Inuyasha blinked a couple times. You've got to be kidding me right?

Kagome laughed, covering her mouth in a childish gesture he was sure intimidated many of the reporters before her. "You honestly believe the rumors that Kikyo spreads. Well ill give her credit she's spreading something other than her legs." A chuckle was heard from other reporters. Bulbs flashed, capturing the moment those words left her lips. Inuyasha himself smirked. "Who can blame the guy for running from her and coming to me?" She made a grand gesture, spreading her arms wide, placing her hands to her chest once she said me. More flashing bulbs. "I'm sure he his abilities will be put to better use here with me then with her team." Sango smiled and went to raise her finger to choose someone else.

Kagome didn't know him. She didn't know the situation, or the reason he was here. But she defended him. She shot down that reporter like a pro and made it look as if it was a game too. Very few people had his back. He learned over the years to have his own back, that's what made him so good at what he did. He was good at strategies, good with his fists, and especially good with a gun. Him being a half demon helped with his speed and his senses. He was always extra alert an in tune with whatever went on around him.

That's why when she looked over her shoulder and winked at him he didn't miss it.

Maybe this wouldn't be as bad as the last job he had...
