Dranatic-Snitch: Well, here's my lame attempt at rewriting the ending of Death Note in a poetic kind of way. If you can call my rubbish rhymes poetry, that is. I've had this thing in my head for a while, so thought I'd just chuck it here and make some much needed revision space in my brain.
Hope you enjoy it...
Title – Descent
Characters – Light Yagami, Matsuda, Ryuk & the italicised voice of that little dipshit Near
Rating – T (Light's death-bed profanity)
Warnings – Extreme profanity, so if you get offended by swearing, I'd suggest you don't continue reading this
Disclaimer: Not mine. Oh, how I wish it was.
The crack of the gunshot hung
In the air.
He cried out (the wound stung!),
Clutching at his poor skin, torn beyond repair.
"Matsuda, you bastard!" cried He,
"What the fuck are you doing? Don't you see
That I'm fixing the World, I'm saving you all!
I'm purifying this place. You dare have the gall,
To shoot at a God, to pierce me through and through?
Jesus, Matsuda, you have no goddamn clue!"
And the aforementioned man, he trembled in fright,
Torn between fear, a "friend", and what was right.
With fingers convulsing on the trigger so cold,
Matsuda pulled it again, willing his nerve not to fold.
Crimson liquid whipped into the air,
A curse and pain becoming too much to bear,
Clutching at blood, spillage from his veins,
Light screamed for a saviour, a plethora of names.
"Mikami! Misa! Takada! Someone?"
"They're all gone, Kira. Your reign's over and done!"
Hearing these words, insanity flashed
And looking up at Ryuk, realisation finally crashed
Like waves over rocks, sinister crimson shores;
The Shinigami wears that smile he abhors.
"I told you, Light. From the very start,
You knew I'd be the one to stop your heart
In it's murdering tracks. Now don't get mad
Buddy, it's been a blast. I'm glad
To have had all this fun, but this seems all that you've got.
It's all over and done. The apple's begun to rot!"
And with these last words, and a shedding of ink,
The seconds passed by; all Light could do was think
About His forfeited life, and what could have been.
He realised just what his actions would mean,
How touching that little black book had whisked away
The chance of an afterlife in which He was welcome to stay.
He screamed out for some mercy,
He cried for his lost youth.
That which He'd ignored, He could now see.
Yes, Light now finally Knew the truth:
How misled He'd become, deceived for sure,
By His very own delusions of Godly grandeur.
The End
Dramatic-Snitch: Well, there it is. I know that the tenses were a bit screwed up here and there, that the verses were uneven throughout, that some of the rhymes were a bit of the stretch, and that I used a little artistic license, but I hope that you enjoyed it regardless. Obviously I changed the dialogue to suit my purposes, so Ryuk is a little more...wordy than usual, but I hope y'all won't mind.
Some constructive criticism and feedback would be much appreciated...I'm always striving for improvement...
