Comfort:

John returns from Earth in the middle of the night. Except for the personnel in the control room, everyone is pretty much sleeping. He drags his fatigue body through the corridors and towards his room. Along the way, he recalls the conversation his brother and he had before he had to return to Atlantis.

He is glad that they at least end on a more civil note before parting, but his emotions are still dwelling on the fact that he and his dad never resolved their issues. It's too late and there is nothing he could do.

He walks into his dark room and before plopping onto his bed he grabs himself a beer. He knew he wouldn't be able to sleep; his mind is racing too much with all the could've, should've and didn'ts keeps plaguing him. He jumps a little when he hears the chimes for his door.

He opens the door and Teyla is staying in front of him, "Teyla, is everything ok?"

She gave him a weak smile, "I was to going ask you the same thing. I am sorry that I was unable to see you before you left for Earth. I wanted to say that I was sorry to hear about your father's death."

He tries to contain his emotions, but Teyla can see that his eyes are beginning to water up. He motions her to come in and smiles to himself as he observes a little waddle in her walk.

John tries to change the subject, "I see that junior has grown a lot during this week."

Teyla sees John look at her stomach with a smile and she can't help but smile as well.

She releases an exhausting sigh, "He is also more active."

She places her hands on her back and groans a little. John gets a chair and offers her to sit down.

"Your back huh?" he asks dotingly and begins to rub her lower back. Her eyes close to enjoy the relief it brought.

"Do you want to talk about your father?" she softly inquires.

"There's actually not much to say. We didn't get along, we had an argument, I left, we never talked again, he died and now it's too late," he says sarcastically.

She turns around slightly and motions for him to sit in front of her. He can see the compassion in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Teyla. I wish my family were close like you and your people are," He lowers his eyes. "You're desperately searching to be back with them and I did all I could do to stay away. It wasn't until recently that I thought he didn't hated me. I guess he regretted how we parted until the day he died."

Teyla out reaches her hand to touch his, "And you should take comfort in that, knowing that he did care for you."

John silently nods his head. He takes a moment to get his emotions back in check.

He looks at her with extremely sadden eyes, "If I was to lose you or and of the guys I…I don't know what I would do. You are more family to me than my own."

A small smile creeps across his face and he put his hand on her stomach, "That includes junior."

Teyla is extremely touched and a tear tickles down her face, "I will always be her for you John."

She tries to get out of the chair and John gives her a hand a lets out a slight chuckle. She sits next to him and nudges him for laughing at her awkwardness. She nestle her head on his shoulder and his check rests on her head.

He is still sad that he and his dad had that awful fight so many years ago, but if that never happened he would never had his family here in Atlantis or Teyla.

The End.
