Pink Floyd—The Wall
Summary: Pink's thoughts as he completes the Wall and spirals into his self-composed isolation.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
I can hear the study beat of my blood pulsing through my veins.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
My eyes are closed. They are of no use to me anymore. I have been caged in by these mile-high Walls that surround me. I dare to open my eyes just a crack. I crane my head, look side to side, and see nothing but darkness. I look behind me. I see darkness.
When I look in front of me I see it.
The Wall.
A massive figure of white bricks sitting right in front of me.
The Wall never leaves me alone. It is always there. I am always alone, with no company but the Wall.
I am isolated.
Goodbye, cruel world. I've left you today. Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye. Goodbye, all you people—there's nothing you could have said. I didn't change my mind.
Goodbye.
